Infected with Offroadiness..
Hey guys/girls.
Im new to this so i think its appropriate to introduce myself..
My name is Jooce and im 21 years old.
Now the reason im on here is over the xmas holidays i went rabbit shooting on the back of a soft top 4wd and it was awesome. Its completely killed my thirst for "boy racer" type cars and now i want my own 4wd and gun to kill bunnys..
Anyway i recently bought a 1990 Suzuki Escudo soft top and i think i need some bigger tyres and upgraded suspension so it can handle "rough" terrain.
Is there anyone out there who has owned a escudo/vitara and could maybe give me some pointers on what to do? i dont wana spend big money on it coz the car (is it a car or a truck?) only cost me 3grand.
Any help would be much appreciated..

Theres a good following of suzuki's on here, so there should be some advice coming your way, There will need to be a little bit of money spent to get set up, but no where near the kind of money wasted on Boyracer cars eh.
Hope you stick with it, & look foward to crossing paths on the trail sometime, but dont mention killing bunnys to the missus.

welcome aboard Jooce

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Hey
Mroffroader i envy your ingenuity (spelling) and DIY attitude. Unfortunately im not the DIY type.. i'd rather pay a pro to do it so it doesnt cause me issues! But yeh goodwork man i wish i knew as much as you did!
I think i might just take suzy to a pro and be like "heres 5 grand.." lol
Hey do you know how hard it is to remove the rear seats as im thinking about ditching them and putting something in it to make it steady for 2 ppl with guns to stand up and keep balance, while driving through rugged terrain.. Im looking at making my suzuki a mint shooting vehicle rather than a mud dragging rusty beast.
Your suzuki looks mint though! i will get a pic of mine up when i get the bonnet painted on tuesday.. keep up the good work !

a couple of questions about this auction.
1, Are these tyres bald for off road tyres?
2, Will they fit on my suzuki?
3, Are they cheap or a good deal?
4, Even if they are bald.. would they still be ok for offroad use?
Sorry bout all the questions but like i said... this world is completely new to me..
Cheers, Jooce

Welcome aboard, The best thing to make the 'scudo a bit better offroad would be little bit of a lift & some decent 30" tyres. You should be able to get 4 new springs & shocks fitted for around a grand. A 4x4 training course would be a good investment too if you haven't done much offroad driving.

Depending on how much they want for them would be good as a entry level
You could just fit them with no lift and a little rubbing...
from memory they are about 29" (stock is about 27?)

to be honest i dunno if i'd pay quite that much as the tread is starting to get down a little and they appear to be only the standard SJ413 whitespoke rims (only 5.5" wide)... but all depends on how they look in person etc and what the tread is like...
but at the end of the day its a convienence thing too... like i often end up paying a little more for something local which I can have now, pickup and know exactely what i'm getting; as opposed to waiting for a while and getting something cheaper (which i may or may not know what their gonna be like)
