What a great day .

I spent the morning burning down houses and the afternoon tossing my brother in law and his girl friend off the cliff :lol:

We were burning down buildings as part of live fire training, what a buzz,
Will post photos if anyone is interested

And then took the brother in law and his girl friend up TeMata peak and set up the lines so they could absail off the cliff, his girl friend had not done it before, I love challenging to get out of their comfort zone.

The only down side is that I got new tyres for the Toyota during the week and I haven't had a chance to try them out, oh well maybe tomorrow

Heading into Christchurch Friday night there was a house in Kaiapoi in full blaze. Not sure if it was a training or what. Was lots of rubber-neckers and vehicles stopped every where as one would expect. Noticed one person with their arm round another - not sure if they were comforting them or just being romantic at the evening bonfire.

Went passed the site yesterday (delayed rubber necking) and the house is totally to the ground, just foundations and very little else except the remains of the oven and a fridge sitting in the ruins.

Figure if it was that total it was probably done on purpose???

As for my weekend, in CHCH all day yesterday, was planning on the pinnacles today but most likely doing Akaroa today and heading out next sunday.

It's a typical thing amongst firies. They are all pyromaniacs. Who else would run into the flames, when everyone else is running out. Just as well you lot are not arsonists as well :twisted:

Spent Saturday, pulling millions of starter motors apart (well, thats what it felt like) to find that they all were really good motors but really bad solenoids on them.

Ended up with the original starter motor and solenoid, just dismanteled the solenoid and cleaned up the posts and contacter plate. All works fine now! So the Rangie starts again.

It's a bit of a buggar what water does, but its fun to drive in.

as with wopass, i worked.. oh and worked somemore...

apart from when i was lookin after my son who has a serious case of the da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa chicken pox.. nearly got admitted to hospital, poor little bugger.. looks like shit.. seems to be on the mend though so all is good in the household again..

also happened to meet dirty ole callum.. i dont know why you bagged him so much rex? and what twitch? there wasnt any funny smell either...?

Quite weekend for me again, bit of work, bit of house work, birthday tea for friends, and hooked up the new mouse.

looked into the pile of bits that is my starter motor now, new Brgs for it next week!

This is the brg that crapped it's self, what you see is all thats left, a race on the shaft and bits of the outer.

Oh and now watching the V8's in Adelaide from last weekend.

fixed the oil leak in the front of my engine, fitted some spot lights, my fuel rail spring a leak so replaced all my injectors, changed my diff oils,
Went for a nite trip down the waipra, almost rolled into a water hole.

Bit of everything really.

1) Inspected left rear brake for location of fluid leak noticed last week. Dismantled EVERYTHING, to no avail. Put it all back together and lo, no fluid leak............... who bloody knows.

2) Ventured to find location of air leak in line to front lokka. Thread taped existing brass join... all good, small leak noticed coming from compressor tank, sorted that no problem, got back under to make sure the joint was sweet, and in the process broke another part of the airline..... decided to put a entire new airline through.... just gotta find some.

3) Cut up new block and coil spacers to pop the ex-3inch lift, back up to 3 inches. front and rear springs have sagged a touch, will get u-bolts made up during the week. ready for next week.

4) Sorted the pattern for left and right checker plate sills. Have to get them cut and folded during the week, as above, to go on next weekend.

Bloody Jeeps......... like women, happy to put with the "nuances" for the enjoyment of the ride!!

Hey, what do you put on behind the chequre plate??

On the Safari i used brush on underbody seal, but put it on thick with a bog spreader to pseal them up and stop the crap from getting down behind them.

The LJ ones, i used urethane, and its ten times better!!!!! Its the panel bonding stuff, so adds a bit more strength than just rivets alone and also seals them up really tight and prevents the crap from getting down behind the plates.

Went up the wires for a look now that it is reopened. Still a pretty good run. Not quite a shiny run but not to hard. We entered the top of the Marototo loop and carried on for a bit before we turned back to have lunch at the grass area just above the river up the top of the track. We finished about 13:30 so decided to run the loop track off Thompson's track. The main track is as smooth as a babies bum, but the loop is wet, muddy and slippery. An excellent day of 4 wheeling, just hope I have time at work tomorrow to waterblast the crap off.

Sat, got rid of rangie body to the scrap metal. Organised next disco chassis for pickup, hopefully at JKracings place too get shortened next week, then LP MK II gets under way at the end of laurie sanson series.
Went down too Meremere drags today to catch up with Andre and "DOCILE" only to see it on axles stands :cry:

another gearbox down the drain maybe - positive note, the cost of the gearbox is twice what Ive put into LP in the last 5 years :lol:

has thompsons main track been maintained ? last time i was up there it was just starting to get interesting... might have to go for a jaunt up there when i get a weekend off.....early april :roll:

ohh and today i had a day off so i replaced the rear diff pinion seal which has been leaking all over the garage floor......at least it wont rust :wink:

They have sent a dozer through with the blade down up the whole Te Aroha side. It is the smoothist I have ever seen it. There is talk at the bop club monthly meeting of sending a digger up the katikati side to repair alot of the areas where the track slipping away as well. Hopefully the long bog will not be made too easy.
