Post by D1HARD »

Ok I have been looking ito some suspension for the Rugger and have only at this stage found Monroe and Rancho supply absorbers for this model 4WD.

Is there one better than the other ?,any reccomendations ?

The major difference between the Ranchos and the Monroes is that the Ranchos are adjustable (99000 series) and the Monroes (presumably Adventurer models) are just gas shocks with a slightly beefier construction than standard. Don't use the 5000 series on such a small truck unless you want a really hard ride. They are non-adjustable and quite stiff on a lighter truck.

Of course the other difference is the price. Ranchos are around 170-180 each, where Adventurers are that price roughly for a pair.

Other options include MaxiTrac (which, incidentally, I sell :) ), tough dog, bilstein ($$$), Koni, KYB, etc... the list goes on.

It really does depend also on if you've done any suspension mods, or if you are planning to. It can sometimes be better to find custom shocks with the right fittings, or to change the mounts to suit.

What model/year is your Rugger? I'll look up a couple of options for you if you like

regards

That would be great if you can have a look for some of the options available for the old Rugger... :D

Its a 1990 Daihatsu Rugger 2.8ltr deisel turbo.

I just want to get her a heap higher off the ground,at the moment she is stock in the lift, suspension area...so its pretty tough going off road.

Cheers....

Any luck on the suspension?

I have heard that they are exactly the same as the Toyota Blizzard...if that helps..

Awesome cheers, G-GUY motors in Wellington said that some Surf/Hilux absorbers can also be fitted ito the Rugger/Blizzard and they have in the past but dont remember which model...

At this stage I am desperate as the front leafs are inverted and the front shocks are knackered,so no Off Roading for me until its sorted...
