saw a wee bit at the Kumeu Show grounds. Red Hilux, lexus powered I think broke rear end in big bog, both wheels locked. Apparently Stu in Project tinfoil blew the motor last night? - something about shouldnt try and start engine with NOS  . GQTROL rolled on the showground course, missed it. Saw Steve McConnells Disco Hybrid on a truck heading back too town on the way home. Seems too be a bit of carnage.
Also saw the Performace Metalworks supercharged Lexus powered hilux entertaining the crowd between groups. Got some get up and go in that thing, S/C whine sounds awesome 8)

Placings as far as I can rember-
1st Tony and Mike (SHRMIN)
2nd Donald and Rodger
3rd Justin and Mike
4th Flufee and dave
5th Steve and me
6th Arron and Mitch

Thats as far as my memory goes at the moment, still have a headace from hitting trees and things. 4 points the diferance between 4th and 6th.
Good fun comp.
Simon (4WD TV) had a $100 prize put up by his wife if we could hit him or run him down. We got within 2ft but we bounced off the tree he ran behind, she has now raised it to $500 for the next comp.

The red HiLux that died in the bog corkscrewd his rear drive shaft at blew a front C.V at the same time, not bad for his first comp.

I'll post up some I took as well when I get them sorted, was a good event, the PTO winches didn't like it to much though, a few failures there, and damn, can someone please make the weather colder next year, it was BLOODY hot.

Cheers, Jeff.

We thought it was a top event, with very technically demanding stages. Certainly the most we'd ever used a ground anchor in a comp!!!

Our rollover on 1st stage (DNF) at the Show Grounds on Saturday followed by busted winch on the 2nd stage (DNF) and breaking our ground anchor on Sunday (slow stage time) hurt us really bad, so were pleased to do as well as we did overall.

Maybe we can break the jinx next year!!

Hey Jeremy tell your bro next time to offer the photos to the magazines first before putting them on the net they might buy them.
Try them any way you may be surprised but be willing to wright a storie to go with it.
Never know your luck, he has a good eye for a good photo.
Id buy some some but he got my bad side :D

As track setters we were glad that the swamps still turned out to be relativley wet after all the hot dry weather.. Some of the tracks would have been realllly interesting if there had been rain

Thanks dion, will keep that in mind for the future. Remember the 130 or so he uploaded are only a sample of what he took over the weekend.

He sold a few pics to Overlander mag in auz for the articles on last years Kiwi and Rotorua winch challenges and maybe able to do so again for a news article on the norwest challenge.
