THOMPSONS TRACK

Post by wopass »

OK .
short notice for this but too bad

heading over to have a play up thompsons on saturday 21 may, Te-aroha side. Just a bit of a play up in the mud, nothing toooo serious. i havent been up there for ages so am unsure of the track condition but my dad took his dog for a walk up there a few days ago and said he would have taken his VX cruiser up if he had better tyres,so.... i would assume that the track is capable by shinys with decent tyres on the main track to the summit.

will look at meeting at the te-aroha caltex at about.....9-10'ish sat morning and go from there.

if interested in comming, post here or give me a Buzz 027 270 5895 to sort out who has spare seats up for grabs etc....

Thompsons on the Katikat side is a motor bike track. F that, last people i heard that did it took them 26hrs. Nah, but I'll go as a passenger.
I've been right through plenty of times as a kid

Its one hell of a ride on a bike, and if you want more of a challenge, take a 4wheeler. Just not one with an electric gear shift

There's heaps and heaps of stuff down Rotorua ways, pureora forest and then there's private land........

As for moving, i should be sweet, i'm gonna crash at my folks place till i find some where with a decent garage with a high roof.

What i really need is a trailer, moving companies don't like carrying oil and paint and all that good shit you keep in your garage. I'm going to have to pack it descretely some how. I might hire one and just not take it back

and the problem being..????????? I can understand the concern if you had a Rangi over.
the watercress sandwiches would be soggie the corgies would be missing Corro street reruns and the proud doggie ?? owners would have run out of pooper bags. GET TOUGH GET TOYOTA
last people i heard that did it took them 26hrs
er I think it was the land rover club
but I'll go as a passenger.
sure no sweat but for you ( nissan Owner) please leave your bra on and please no white tee shirts.we will pay you the $1

Black T.Shirt and Bra. Noted.
By the way, just what type of people do you go four wheeling with normally??

I read it in 4x4 action, They did it back in Jan this year i think, some of the northern tribe of the far north, four Zooks and three Whales. 2 whales were running at the end.

We used to go right over back in the day with Series 1 LR. Thats been retired to the hay shed.

Besides, getting mud on my carpets and in my sheep skin seat covers??
I don't think so!!!

I do have sheep skins though

thinking about a 2dr Vitara as a hack. Welded diffs that sort of thing............
They are cheap to import damaged, about $NZ250 to buy, + shipping expenses

yep thought about that as well but Im looking at Mitsubitshi jeeps. Same price better articulation and can easily be repowered and look out at the approach and exit angles. Most of all they can look cool 8) If you are looking at importing, PM me, as importing small cars (m*n*s) from Japan regularly

Got a big day planned on Sunday so will be prepping Lilpig for that, otherwise I may of considered it. Oddly enough this day is going to include a shitload of the british product

And yes back in the 90's we used to go to Katikati side and back in the old mans 1957 series 1 Landy (not quite standard  ) a number of times.

Hope you have a ripper trip - get plenty of pics

Hehe, go the Series one!!
My olds mans is a 1956, and all we had was a set of SAT's on reversed rims and a roll cage!!!!
Good memories, good pics too. I'll have to do some scanning and set up a vintage 4x4 album on here some day

Those were the days you could drive easily through Satdia, up the grapevine, Peels creek and so on. Bloody winch challenge vehicles and their damn 38's and V8's.
I gotta get me one
