Surf Sas Conversion finaly happening

yeah its true, truck went in today for its sas conversion after a wee while shall we say of talking the talking, getting the parts together its final happening. heres what ive got planed for it

sas
over top control arms (pajero rear)
coil over suspension (rangie)
wide ifs axle conversion
Lockers front and back (lock right)
rear sway bar disconnects
enough lift to fit 36x12.5 simex extreme trekkers under
rancho rs9000 shocks
some bar work
tidy up jobs
then cert

ohh and a ladder to in and out with :lol:

will try and get progress pics when i can.

Pajero Rear radius arms have been know to break under hard use through where the rear bush fits into. Ive seen one break at a teams challenge event i did a couple of year ago. Something to think about before you use them.

Was that with the Gen 2 Doddzee? I knew gen 1 coil arms broke but thought the 2nd gen ones were better - maybe only marginally....

The one i saw break was a gen 1, unsure if the gen2's are any better or not.

having to go with over steer as they have now made cross over steer non compliant

the control arms cost me $25 for the pair so im not too worried about them sure i could get the guys to put an extra bracket hole to rangie arms as well if i need to change later.

yeah they will be doing the bar work too if i let them dnt like the sound of craig shumiching around my toyota (bloody nissian owners! ) lol

Hi Adam that isn't correct, there has been a lot of "pub talk" as the certifier told me, he said bring it in let me look, if it has been well engineered it will get certified......took my truck in last week and the steering past certification, just need to add a driveshaft loop, change a braided brake hose, add 2 little supports to the rear brake hoses and my beastie is completely certified WITH CROSSOVER STEERING

don't know how the hell they are going to fit all mods onto 1 cert plate tho :lol:

Hosehustler, any chance of some info/pics on your cross over set up and the rear handbrake set up on the discs. Wanting to have my truck certed soon so anything to improve my chances of getting it right would be great. Thanks.

bit of good news lockers should fingers crossed be here in time for the trip. progress is abit slow with the truck ricks missing a macanic and is very busy but should be all done and cert before the trip

ok guys sorry i havnt been up dating this very much if at all

you'l get over it.

so here we go progress up to date : front end completly out and new frnt end almost finished jst relocating the shock mounts on the axle as they hit the steering arms opps. rear end is complete nd finished after new shocks where made up(they was too long ) lockers are all installed in my reclaimed diffs

all thats kinda left over is steering rod to be made to length then spring rates for the front tobe calculated and installed then thats prettie much it jst finishing off jobs to do like checking for rubbin etc.

sorry dont have any up to date pictures you going to have to wait till its finished lol
