We have a Daihatsu Rugger set up for 4x4 but no winch.
Would like some advice as to what winch to buy that will do the job bearing in mind we are fairly budget conscious.
DO NOT WANT TO WASTE MONEY ON JUNK.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
What winch to buy?
You could try one of these:

A local mate has put a $900 winch on his 2006 flat-deck Cruiser & has had no problems with it at all.

i have just got a ramesey winch for my scudo and would not buy a chinese winch , but that is just my opinion. mate that works for treescape has a chinese brand winch on his work ute after the warn got flogged and has had plenty of trouble with it. all fixed under warranty but no use up bush when stops working. ramesey, superwinch or warn is the way to go even if you get 2nd hand at least you can get bits for them, my 10 cents. cheers

Good point...BUT...as you said..what use is it up bush if it stops working & you're on your own, despite the brand??
Work truck has a Ramsey...it died after half a dozen uses pulling out logs by another staff member. The clutch s**t itself

But I guess its horses for courses, and how often you would need to use it.

I have a T-MAX winch on my disco. I have seen that the chinese winches are almost a direct copy of them. But alot of Aussie guys use the T-MAX ones. I dnt know how good they are but first time i was stuck i blew the solinoid........it was on the way out and this pushed it over the edge

Think you'll find the T-Max winches are also manufactured in China...
More likely a case of "same factory, different stickers" for all the non-USA winches I'd say
