Hello all, new guy in the forum

Hello all,
Just discovered your lovely web site last night, wow! You guys are the real deal.
Let me introduce my self.
My name is Marc, my wife and I have just moved to New Zealand 6 months ago. We are living in Kaikoura.
I am an ex Brit (who said POM? ). for the last 15 years we have been living in Israel.
All my off roading experience (around15 years), is from the middle-east.
Any thing that has off road tyres is my cup of tea, push bikes (down hill and cross country), motor bikes, quad’s and of course 4x4’s.
My 4x4’s were: a 1990 Jeep cj-6, a 1995 Suzuki Samurai, a 1997 Nissan mistral, a 1996 Jeep wrangler and my last 4x4 in Israel was a 1999 Land Rover defender 110 TD-5.
So, first thing I did when arriving to this beautiful country, was look for the right 4x4 for our new beginning in NZ.
After about two months of searching, I found the right “brideâ€

I think there is a trip in Kaikoura this weekend being organised by Doug at the photo shop down there, might be worth a look.

Let me know if your keen to get out sometime, as we spend a bit of time at Clarence which isn't too far away.

We spent last weekend doing the Kautura and Kowhai rivers down your way, although I'm still trying to get the damaged parts replaced

Yes, in NZ (especially south island) a snorkel is a must, those rivers are just begging to be crossed

It would pay to think about diff/gearbox breathers too

Welcome aboard.
First thing I would do is take the factory Mud flaps off before they are ripped off 4x4ing. Also the alum running boards will bend in the middle and dent your sill. Take them off, stick it all in the shed so you can put it all back on when you sell it. Or sell them on trademe. the flaps sell for abit on there.
P.s. Start saving for the turbo fitment. It wont take long before you want more power especially if you go to bigger tyres.

Great areas for 4x4'ing everywhere in the South Island - but as you have discovered - a snorkel is essential for the diesels.

Nice wagon you've picked up. Be interested in seeing the mods as it "builds" up.

Good old Kaikoura, I drove through there on the weekend on the way to Blen and back, sounds like there are some great trails in there, judging by the trip reports on here, and the number of seroius 4WD's I saw on the road there, you wont have any trouble finding tracks to suit your truck
