hi would like some advice if possible,
have a 90 samari, in the process of re powering with 1600 16v engine
have purchased complete wrecked Escudo, so have wiring harness, computer, fuel tank with pump etc.
my question is what clutch plate is used, pressure plate ???
also know i have to change sump and pick up, are there many more hidden surprises that anyone has come across
also looking for 413 transfer box
was advised to change crown and pinion over from Escudo, is this correct
or would the 413 box be enough.
i am based in ChCh so any help would be a great help
cheers Bob
re pwering Samari with 1600 16v
I do adaptor kits to fit 1600's into 413's / Samurais as Chris said (thanks for the plug Chris
)
The kit contains all the bits to bolt the motor up to the 413 gearbox and contains a engine mount adaptor too. Cost is $200.
You use the 1300 clutch and flywheel, and the 1600 starter.
You'll need to swap the sumps over unless you've got lots of lift (more than about 3") and cut and weld the two oil pickups together.
The 1600 motors are about 30mm taller, so you'll need a body lift, or do some trimming of the bonnet bracing and possibly shim up the front clip a bit.
The Vitara fuel pump will bolt into a coily tank as they have a removable pickup. 413's don't, but I'm not sure about Samurais.
You can use the ring and pinion from the front of two vitara's to replace your ring and pinions. They come in a few different ratios like 4.3, 4.6ish and 5.12 instead of the standard 3.9 or 3.7.
You are probably looking for a 410 box not a 413, as the 410 boxes are 12% lower in low and high range.
If you get an 84 410 box you can cut & weld the cluster gears together to get 12% reduction in high and 84% in low - a rockhopper box. If you do this you won't need to change diff ratios.
