Post by mike »

I will be heading upto Macetown on the 26th of Oct from Queenstown to check out some old gold mining ruins and have a look around.

If you are in the Queenstown area and wish to join, you are most welcome.

Will post more details closer to the date.

Yeah dude, for sure. Maybe just a small 4wd trip upto lake sumner, pitch the tent and a 1 1/2 hour hike to the natural hot pool in the side of a waterfall overlooking the river :?:

Few play areas up there as well

Amazing lake though :)

We will be down there from about the 16th Jan, and will do the Dunstan, Old Man, Rock & Pillar ranges as well as the normal easier runs.

We are leaving Picton, do the East Coast on the way down , then the tracks around Queenstown etc, and then back up the West Coast on the way home.

At this stage will have approx 10 vehicles.

Cheers

What was the trip up to Mactown like? I am thinking about heading up there next July in my Suzuki.

I've walked up a couple of times a lifetime ago but driving must be better.

It was good, water wasnt deep at all. Got to the bottom of the floor just a couple of times.

I recommend doing it but let your tyres down abit for some extra comfort as its a rocky track the whole way

check the colour of the water before you head up, if it's dirty don't go.
