4wd light flashing

Post by Rotowarriors »

When out on the open road, sometimes the 4wd light on the dash begins to flash, but once you stop the truck and turn it off then on again, light stops flashing. bit like rebooting a PC i spose, it says in the handbook to get it checked by a mechanic but murphys law I took it in and it don't do it. any ideas?? Only happens when going over 100, but then again not all the time.

Does it feel like 4wd kicks in at the same time or just the light flashing. Could be a short maybe?

mine was doing the same thing when i ghange the rear rims, its basically a warning to not put it in 4wd. in my case it was due to the different front and read tyre radius's.

Hi Rotowarriors
I have the same truck with the same problem.
I've put up with it now for 5 years. I just ignore it now, but it would be nice to know why.
I have same tyres all round and I spent alot of time checking wires and switches to no avail. Local dealers were unable to help.
Cheers - Peter
p.s. hope some clever person can shed some light
