Hi Everyone,

Im just new here. Been interested in 4wd'n for a while and always wanted to give it a go. So I got hold of a Series 1 Landie, and well, rebuilt the majority of it and then decided it was to good to use for 4x4'n. :roll:

Which led me to get another S1 Landie thats more suitable. Its only a basic setup, holden 186, roll cage, s3 diffs etc, but I think its a good place to start. Been out once with the Taupo club and had a ball. Really looking forward to going out again, and thought it would be a good idea to join up with this website.

So yeah, thats me.

if you need more spares on state highway 2 Rangitaiki on one of the blocks of land on the right there is a couple of easy landie sitting there

Welcome nice to have a toy and a daily of the same type only issue is the good one usualy becomes a parts car.

Have fun you will be amazed how far you can get it to go with a few mods.

you get to the point that there are just a few more.

Had to get the brand pot shot out of the way first, you left yourself wide open for it :!:

Not sure on what tyres and wheel you are running now, but usually a good place to start.
If you post what it's running now, and if there are any extras (snorkel,winch,recovery gear,suspension mods etc) then others will be able to advise who are more landi savi.

Thats all the main parts to it i can think of.

Im keen to do a bit on it, but as im only a student, im not going to go all out. I just want to use it as a starting truck, then once i finish studding and i can afford to, I'll but a nissan and kit it all out.

Good to see anthoer Landy owner, I bought a Disco about 2 weeks ago and I am currently saving up $$ to do a few mods to it.

Your L/r has had all the main stuff has already done!

You would be better off collecting up all the important recovery gear and stuff like that.

here is a daunting list to frighten you off!!

Ok, this list is by no means exhaustive, dont let it throw you, you DONT have to do it all at once!!

leave hint sheets out where the family can see them when birthdays and christmas roll around is a good way to get stuff.

the main thing to get, though, is enjoyment out of your new hobby!!

Another thing you could do is to fit the EFI gear out of a VK commodore. It makes them go bloody well

Does it bolt straight on, or are there other mods needed?

Yep, ive done it. Its a bloody good mod. If it has the right head, it will bolt on (im pretty sure one witht eh small spark plugs will work). The only other thing needed is to cut a small bit out of the footwell on the bulkhead, and to make a new pickup on teh tank and use the old as a return.

I already have a bit of a first aid kit, fire extinguisher (x2), tow rope, tow hooks (unrated) but will definitly like to do the other mods. I think i will try for the snorkel first, and would love a winch, but they are so dear!!!! Wouldnt mind one of those old landrover hand winches just to get goin!!

Awesome, sounds like fun. I heard that they are really great going forward, but if you need to go backwards in the mud they fill up easily and are not so good.

I tend to use the tractor tyres only on my property & swap to a set of SAT's for real playing - no that I've doing much of that lately

Hi, not really a holden man either, but I have heard that a 179 head on a 186 block was common back in their day to up the compression..... :twisted:

Yes thats very possible. I dont know how to tell what the head is from. mabye i should get the serial number and try to look it up. But it does go quite good. Excellent torque for what it is. Cheers

Hey Dick, I have a question as to what looks like a fuel tank in the tub

I need to make something like this if it is a fuel tank as my tank wont fit anymore (trailing arm mounts in the way).
a) How much petrol does it hold
b) what is it made of
c) Is it a Landrover sender
d) Does it have any baffles inside
