General site updates and outages

Post by mike »

I've put a local free shipment option in for christchurch in the shop to allow for pickups and drop offs to avoid freight charges for those that wish to do this. This covers most things except chains which have to come from wellington.

As you all know the site has been going very slow some days. This is due to the ever increasing number of users of the site and the server for the last two years is now starting to fall over. I am currently 3/4 through building the new server and there maybe a few outages while I swap them over and do live tests

Also the photo albums will be sorted out next week. I am going to move the trips one into a section of their own and move the strange trucks one into the random album.

If anyone can think of anything that requires urgent attention....

Mike

Ive put a load meter on the front page so you can see when the site is under load till I get the site fully running on the new server.

you should be able to delete your album from the level above it ie where the sub album is sitting. It will have a drop down box like the normal photos and in there will be delete album. If you are inside the sub album you want to delete you will not see an option to delete it therefore you must be one level higher and use the drop down box underneather the subalbum thumbnail.

Failing that, tell me which one you want to delete and I'll do it for you

:( Sorry Mike still no luck - the drop down box only gives the options of reset counter, move album or reorder album but no delete :? If you could get rid of the 2 empty subalbums on page 2 of my pics that would be champion.

On a more interesting note I've added some new pics - a few of me competing at the Nats and some of my 90 - not too bad on the articulation eh!!

It's just out the back of Waihi - also known by some as the Waitawheta track - awsome track - plenty of mud & ruts  best done by seriously kitted out trucks and the locals perfer folks to keep out during the winter so as not to rip it up too much. Most would rate is as good as Thompsons Katikati side.

Geeze 3 days is a bit excessive - last time round only took us 3 hrs :D mind you that was only 3 trucks - 2 serious rough trucks (one a RR chassis & running gear with twin lockers, 35" Baja Claws, comp cage, custom body, Rover 3.7 V8 & 10,000lb winch - the other RR chassis, 35" Baja Clawscomp cage & custom body, lexus V8, Cruiser diffs, twin lockers, front & rear PTO winches) and a fairly serious rough truck(Toyata Surf, shortened chassis, full cage, 33" Kumhos locked rear diff) better known as "the trailer". Oh and it was fairly dry (by Waihi standards. Only breakages were a bent steering arm & a stuck shear pin on the PTO winch. Damn good fun day out that was :P

Can you remember way back when the loop was sort of re-opened??
We bush bashed our way through a fair section of the track. We used to spend a long weekend in there.
That was the series one, a series three SWB runing some really weird spring over conversion using leafs from a suzuki van??, and a seires 2A with a 202. SAT's, Turfer, and tow ropes. Now thats real four wheeling. No diff locks, no winches, and no balloon tyres.
I miss those days.
A couple of years ago we tried in my surf and my mates FJ40 but spent the night in there and turned around. My Turbo blew up. Very slow smokey trip home. Served me right for tinkering with it.

Yeh you're right that's real 4 wheelin'. That's what we did on the trip in my pics, my S3 standard except for a Nissan LD28 donk, a S3 running a 186, and the Surf mentioned B4. stated roun anti clockwise & got as far as the waterfall - only winch that day was a tirfor - fun but damn hard work :D

Yep that's the one. :D I love it - just need to repower it with a V* & fit a bigger fuel tank, oh and stick a winch on the front, also new seats would be good....and I bet it'd be better with 35's..............
