Hey sorry straying here a bit again . On the rules on cutting guards does this include the inner guard ? On the rear of the vitara we are building I need to cut the inner and outer guard back to raise the edge etc . Also I have heard the comments you can cut the guard but not remove material . Whats the deal there .

Still waiting after six weeks now for the rules to be sent out to me from the assn , this is just crap  . Can't start cutting until I have the rules . Grrr

to quote from the "book"
7.3 Super Production Vehicles - Class E and F
L) Body
j) Wheel cavity interpreted as inner guard, outer guard, inner front panel & firewall may be cut, enlarged, flared, re-inforced or raised to the lower edge of the original bonnet height for tyre clearance only, provided no sharp outer edges are left which could cause injury.

Im a bit lost with what you have written?? Im going to do a bit more reasearch into the disc rear before i cut the front out. Im not too keen on front fiddles, they load up the front end a bit much and do not help with traction as much as the rear fiddles will.

Just looking at the E Class rules it appears that you can
1. cut the guards to make the tyres fit - but no more - & sharp edges are not allowed (Shell :D )
2. fit disc brakes to the rear
3. get rid of the IFS & SAS it
& you can't
1. have tyres bigger than 33x14.5
2. change the rear springs
3. have any sort of lockers

if i do most of that, wat about a body lift? will i be in a competitive truck?

No im pretty sure you are not allowed body lift either. Lower the better anyway for trials as you want to keep stable on those sidlings. Just do lots more cutting. If you sas it space the front diff forwards a bit then you wont have the tyres clashing with the firewall.

Yes you will be fairly competitive in your class. Does yours have the 8 or 16 valve motor? A bit of a power upgrade might be a good idea aswell.

well the body and spring lift is reverseable so thats good i still got the original springs :D not sure how many valves? but if i'm gonna re power it i may as well go full mod, wider diff's etc and run in another class. but for now i'm just a poor solo mum so i'll just see how we go, i do have to do most of the work myself so i struggle a bit, i just don't have all the tools i want or need

All those Mods will be expensive if you dont have the tools and have to pay someone to do them.

Keep it standard and enter a-class

too hard she's already had a spring and body lift, so the work to cut the gards back and bash the hell out of the fire wall is gonna be too much at the mo  so this year i think i'll do as much club stuff as i can then get her sorted for either a or e next year, provided i can drive

You should post on here when you need a hand. Myself and many other guys around here would probably be more then happy to help for a couple of hours and have tools etc.

hey shell, I run 235/75r15's no rubbing at all, on standard wheels, so you shouldn't have needed to chop the body, maybe a spring and or a body lift.
