Double CV joints??

Post by De-Ranged »

I'm at the stage where I'm ready to do the drive shafts...(This is all new to me never built one before :? :?: )

I've read all the stuff on the net about correct angles types of joints and all that, I'm now fitting double cardinal joints at the gearbox end of both shafts... what I want to know is can I fit another at the diff end on the front shaft and will it provide any improvement if I do?

PS got lots of spares so parts an't a problem

Hi Reece

The double cardan eliminates the need to have the input and output ends at the same angle to stop vibration. The general rule is use one at the drive end, and then rotate the axle to have the pinion pointing directly up the d/shaft with the suspension at rest (or where it is when the truck is driving, anyway).

A second one would be a waste of time and expensive bits I think, not to mention just more moving parts to break...
