hello again. wondering what to do about suspension... seriously considering doing the fj45 cab on the beast so not much need for clearance at the back and the guards at the front are pretty high anyways.
so the question is do i??
a)spring-over and risk frequently rolling (so i've heard)
b)coil conversion for softer ride. more artic??
or c) standard 50mm lift new springs, shocks, shackles etc.-this looks interesting http://store.4wheelauto.com/view_product.php?product=TER3USM617 , can you get these kits over here??

Any help on the issue would be appreciated..

I would suggest you spend your $1.5k to $2k on booze and hookers and just make do with what you have.

Best bang for bucks so to speak

On a more serious note, those springs a pretty heavy things to freight over here and you can get all of that stuff localy. I think my cruiser OME front springs were about $220 each, OME greasable shackles are pretty pricey but 4wdbits have some quite competitively priced ones, U bolts and bushes are no biggy to buy and you shock's depend on how much money is left over and how much you want to spend?

From what I've read on the Forum,
I'd say if you are on a budget go spring over. Otherwise if you can afford to, go coils.
Spring over gives more ground clearance due to springs not being below your diff. Re use your old springs, they are softer so they sit flatter (less body height) and flex better than new stiffer springs will.

I don't own a 40, just my thoughts from what I've read.

are you planning on getting it certified?
as you will need to factor that into the cost if your doing spring over... but should get away with no doing it with just a spring lift :D

Just thought I would ask a wee question here..... coming from a person also working on fixing up my suspension - see post under suspension mods and fj40 spring issues.... I have learnt so much recently following all these suspension threads... both via searches for old stuff and current stuff.... its great!

The whole SOA is a thought going through my mind a strong one as well.... only I have to sort out my springs first! anyway, If I was to do a SOA (will be further down the track...) How much would I be looking at? and I realise this question is like how long is a bit of string BUT in general what sorts money could I spend If I can do it myself or get a professional to do the whole job etc? just curious.....

I own a SWB FJ40 by the way!!! go the 40's Cruisers!!!

Thanks

Chris

real rough ballpark figure, depending how much ya do yaself...

anywhere from $1000 - $2000...

all sorts of different things come into effect the price like hi-steer? u-bolts? spring perches? shocks? etc.. etc...

good luck chris.. :D
