Aftermarket Temperature Gauge Sensor Adapters

Post by penetrator »

Hey guys as many of you Toyota owners will know the old factory temperature gauge is pretty shit - even if it actually goes unlike mine!

A couple of weeks ago i bought an aftermarket water temperature gauge and its all hooked up ready to go but needs the adapter that goes into the radiator hose so that i can screwthe sensor in. Thing in repco doesent sell these adapters and the ones i have seen on trademe sell really quick - has anyone else on here installed one of these gauges and know where i can find this adapter????

you are running a Supra yes?, My 7m I just screwed it into the thermostat housing where the original leccy sensor was, pretty sure the 5m is real similar. I think I had to turn up a washer to space it out a bit coz the dork bottomed out against the internal gallery before the nut tightened up. Other than that it was piece of piss. Hope this is of some use

cheers jafa - im still running the thirsty 3VZE engine in mine - I think and anyone correct me if im wrong that the electrical temperature sensor clips on to the top of the oil pressure sensor which is a screw in thread.

Have had a look all over the block and radiator and short of having the bit that you screw the sensor into to brazzed into the radiator i need the adapter. I cant believe how many water temperature gauges there are out there that are sold by car stores but no one seems to have the radiator hose adapter for them!!

Normally there will be two temp sensors for injected engines, one for the ECU which is usually a two wire and one for the gauge which will be a single wire.

Both are normally found near the thermostat housing or around about that area.

The oil pressure sender is normally down near the filter housing or on the engine block. I am not sure where the oil and temp senders are on the V6 but I wouldn't have expected them to be close to each other.
