diy winchbar w/ rear bar as well

hey all,

building a bracket to mount winch to the front of my 87 surf...

have decided to replace entire bumper and do it as a whole unit with bash plate and winch etc. and also something for the rear....
been lookin round the ole interweb 4 ideas etc and guessing will do something along lines of ARB's

looking for some input and ideas anyone done similar???

I don't like the look of arbs ;) but thats just personal preference.,....

soon as I work out the new digi camera I will post some pics of my new barwork. Not designed for a winch in particular but could give you some ideas. :D

sweet thanks for help, its coming along but need to know how strong shit has to be...

suprasurf, looks like you have winch mounted???
i was jst gona bolt to the 4 holes on the underside of chassis and also run it up front to the holes where bumper attached.
have you done this way or does it need more ???

I have also been looking at this idea for my hilux. found web site to look at. http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_custom_bumpers.html
this guy custom makes steel products. Has some good ideas regarding the rear bar set up for hilux's.

have got my winch pretty much all mounted, squeezed it in between the bumper so didnt make any front bars in the end just mount...
have started planning the rear..

have some pics..... how do i post in here ---->

probably has been asked and told many times :roll: but hey once more wont hurt huh guys....

That is a wicked site macca, there is heaps of great ideas on there, well wroth a look even if you are not thinking of building anything!!
