[ORE Welly] Recovery/Trip Leader/Organiser Training Day

Post by Jerry »

Date : Sunday the 29th of April
Location: Aotea Block
Drivers Briefing / Start Time: 10.00am
BBQ Lunch $2 per person
Bookings are required
Rated Towhooks are required (mounted properly) if you are using the hazards.

The purpose of this day is to give some informal guidence and training on performing safe recoveries and also a session for those running & organising trips on safe working practices before/during and after a trip and if incidents occur. Bring your extra recovery gear we can have some team challenges and try out different methods of recovery.

We can discuss the recent towhook incident as well (with the purpose of preventing this happening in the future) I can arrange someone to look at your hooks and see if they are safe enough as well.

There will be time for a general play afterwards, there may be some pegged hazards to try out as well....

ANYONE IS WELCOME THIS IS OPEN TO EVERYONE ON ORE

Happy for suggestions on a better date......I think it may be a good idea to run these 3 monthly and have some training in the morning and some fun events ie hazards or something in the afternoon, easy enough to incorporate some team hazards in there as well.... (if we can find 3 landrovers not in bits )

We can vary the training to suit as well......

If anyone has any good idea's on how to make hazards interesting eg getting a dead vehicle in a team of 3 thru a hazard or eg 1 vehicle in 2wd only then please let me know.....

Something challenging but making people think about how to recover it (Stinky your 30m Strop will be banned for some of these  )

I think its a good idea to start documenting these idea's so we can share them with the other zones (and vice versa)

You could try getting 3 Dihatsu vehicles through, that would be tough!

I think we have a trip on that weekend, taking a 'social group' out to demonstrate 4x4ing for them, but if its not that weekend, I'll come and have a look.

I'll join Team Truckie. But to make it fairer on all the non-Nissans, I'll swap wheels/tyres with Truckie and we'll see how Truckie goes then! I'll still be disadvantaged from the LWB, extra overhang, height and lack of lockers (not to mention the horrendous guard rub) so it should make it more interesting

What do you reckon Marty?

I have some 29" tyres that should fit..... I can bring them round now and fit them for you  ......Truckie might bite you if you try and take off its wheels.....

Sorta like trying to take a bone from a big rottweiler whilst he/she(or it if its been for a trip to the vets) eating it.....

What do you mean dissadvantage with a LWB, they are only disadvantaged in very tight courses. They climb better, are less likely to fall over, and they go down hills better

On another note, hopefully Ill have the LR going by then (not likely), if I dont, hopefully Ill have my new truck going by then, if not then im out. Ill sign my dad up for my team.

Dont quote me on any of this as I might not even be there

Where are you going to find another Diehatshoe to make up your team Jerry?
