I imported them for a while, but got fed up with waiting MONTHS after payment for them to arrive.

I can get them for you if you want them, just don't expect them to arrive anytime soon... they were shocking at delivering in a sensible timeframe.

Having said that, I never had any major problems with them mechanically. They are cheap and work pretty well.

regards

I have heard, and i say "heard" for a reason, thatthe aussie lokka's are supposed to be crap, a cheap knock off of the Detroit.

The Aussies reckon they have all sorts of problems with them.

They all seem to prefer the Detroit and lock right.

Just whaty i have heard and read, having not tried any of them my self..........

It's amazing how people are so quick to judge without actually tring them for themselves,.
The person who makes the Aussie Lokka is the same person who originally made them for lockrite except he now resides in Aus and started producing them there.
I have personally run them in both ends for over a year now, they get hard use in 5.29 diffs on Maxxis 35 inch tyres with a supra repower driving them NO problems at all with them, they work brilliantly for the price I paid of, both sitting on my doorstep for $1160 NZ.
Sure you can't turn them off and on, but they lock the damn diff, and yes I put a set of all terrains on the Lux during the week and drive it to work which is a round trip of 50km a day, so I guess you could say having now heard from someone who uses them that not everyone has the opinion that they are crap.
They are value for money, but you only get what you pay for, they lock the diff for less than $600 each can't beat that without welding the planetry gears.

this is all true,

people all have opinions and some have myths, in the end you gotta talk to some1 with experience rather than the classic "...i heard ...."

brought the detroit of mike, was weary at the start from all the stories you hear but after using it for a couple of months aint looking back. reccomend to all who have 6 hundy to spend rather that $1300 it still locks hard!!!!!

Hehe, I'll keep quiet next time............

I have a list of stories a mile long on the short comings of the Lokka

Strange as the Aussies are usually pretty patriotic

Haha, yep!!!
Nah, i meant that the actual brand "Lokka" is "supposedly" not as good as the "Detroit" and "lock rite" brand of diff locks.
Nothing to do with the actual style of locker being crap!!!!
The Detroit Full Locker, which you exchange for your old carrier and bolt the crown wheel to it, is what i am holding out for, not just the carrier kit that goes in place of the spidedr gears. I have Ben from the Diff Shop in Chch going over to the states in two weeks to see if he can match one up for me, as they don't appear to make one for my vehicle, Y60 33 Spline.
Failing that, he's going to get me an ARB for cheap and i will plum it in on the cheap.

I prefer the Detroit over the ARB for the reliability of simplicity. No compressors and air lines and all that crap.............
