Cooper STT update
Cooper STT update
Hi just wanting an update from people that have or have used the new Cooper STT mud tyre.
What was the performance like off road?
What was the performance like on road?
Also what was the milage like from these tyres?
I think I read a post and it said a few people had brought them but not tried them out yet?(Mikey?) So please let us know your reports.
Thanks

Do you think they would be a good tyre on my '02 Mazda bounty ute.
I use this vehicle as my daily to and from work and also round the farm.
I live just outside Invercargill so it gets pretty wet in winter and gateways can end up pretty muddy. Just wanting a good tyre on and off road as this is my only vehicle.
I am thiking of the new STT's.
Opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have run Cooper STTs on for about 2 years now and have done over 20,000ks on them so far. This has been on the SWB Nissan Mistral in the pics which is my also my only vehicle so does road work as well as offroad trips. They are guaranteed for 60,000ks but are expected to do more than this. I have found them to be an exceptional tyre and they have proved themselves in difficult terrain many times; high country trips and on a steep, muddy South Otago farm. I’ve heard reports that Wranglers or Goodrich MTRs may be slightly better in very thick mud but I haven’t had a problem with the Coopers. From my experience i have found to be an above average mud tyre (compared to Hankooks and Pirelli MTRs). Where I have found them to surpass other mud tyres is the way the way they good in the mud but also excellent on rocks, wet grass, sand etc and on the road. They also handle wet tarmac very well and don’t squirm like other mud tyres I’ve had. They are also well constructed and very robust with strong sidewalls. They are meant to be more resistant to punctures than other tyres. Overall I have found them excellent and they have impressed many others on 4wd trips I have been on. I can find no reason not to buy another set when these ones eventually wear out.
Hope this helps

Thanks mike soundz like you have had a good run out of these tyre's.
Question so there is a guarrantee for 60,000k's for these tyre's?
How often do you rotate your tyre's?
Thanks for the pic's looks like are still in good nick.
Think I will just have to try these for myself guess nothing like personal experience i guess.
Thanks

(He's a contractor who spends a sh*t-load of time in boggy, muddy paddocks fixing/building/repairing fences)
He changed them off the truck for Pirelli Scorpions MT's (now they are available in a 16" size) just before he went to the Waikaia weekend trip just gone.
The STT's have worn quickly, haven't got the same initial tread depth, and need a lot of speed/spin to clear the crap outta the tread.![]()
He reckons the Pirellis are a far better tyre, having previously run them on his Hi-lux, and says he wouln't go back to the Coopers again
He may even want to sell his old STT's. I could check if you are keen
Too much cost for meBut it's all horses for courses as they say.

have a look at the goodyear wranglers and see how they compare in price. i just put a set on my surf and am very pleased with them. they look quite similar stts. had them on some rocks on the weekend and they were great. they handel well on the road. not sure how well they wear yet though. are much better in mud than my old tyres and clear well when you get them spinning.

Well I have had my new Copper STT's on my ute for 2 weeks now and absolutly love them so far. Living down in Invercargill we get allot of rain so I can tell you that on road in the rain they are the best mud tyre I have had or driven on.
On road they are quiet and handle not to bad for a mud tyre.
Off road I have not been to far except around the farm and they have preform pretty good, Have not been in any serious mud yet but will keep you informed.
Just an update.
Thanks

I have found the same thing with their performance on wet tarmac and on-road performance. You should get an excellent run out of them.
Cheers

Thanks Mike for posting reviews on the cooper stt's which helped me make my pick easier.
I ended up going with 30's for the bounty. It came with 235/75R15 so 30's are 10mm bigger. Was going to go with 31's but I think I may have encountered a few problems?????Not sure.
Anyway with 30's gearing stays about same (hi&low range) and no loss of power.
