Goodyear MTR offroad pressures?

Post by DaveM »

I've just bought a set of Staun deflators, which are factory set to 18psi, is this ok for my 33's (on 8" rims), or should I be looking at low 20's?

Finally got sick of running 40lb off road

Cheers

I've been running my 35" MTR's at 17-18 psi off road............have been fine on a light surf, might pay to stick around 20 on the heavier vehicle :o

I got some for Xmas - awesome "gadgets" - (not to mention fantastic pressie :D :D )

I set 2 of them at 26psi & 2 at 20 psi - but will have another play and drop 1 pair down to 24 - which was what I ran for the Easter Weekend on the West Coast.

Takes a bit of fiddling to get them set - but once set they are great. :thumright:

Having 2 at each pressure makes it easier if you use 2 x different pressures (ie mud & rock-crawling or sand etc) Just takes 2 x as long as using all 4 to air-down

Been using stauns for two years, great putting them on walk away and have a chat with all the fellas doing it by hand  Run 18 psi mostly in the safari. Don't go two low pressure with those crappy ( my opinion only) MTR's as you will put rocks through the sidewalls  . Done it twice now :(

 Are they the new 35's Al?
Thought they were fairly strong in the walls, glad I got the warranty on mine.
Might look at creepies instead when I go up to 35's, just wish I could get five for $1200 like I can with the MTR's

No the 33's. Still haven't decided on what type/brand of 35's to go for. Looking at, no doing, pulling that Old Man Emu shit out and doing a 75mm lift first. Waiting for a new maxxis tyre to come into the country before I decide, and then there's those silverstones to wait for as well.

Oh and I am told that the next shipment of MTR's into the country ( none available for 2 mths) will be considerably dearer now that they have captured a significant share of the market. They sold out heaps sooner then they thought they would.

I managed to get a quota from Tony's, and since they were out of stock when I went to buy them, they have got it as an open quote so I can get them when I like.
If I don't go for them, I might get a set anyway, as there is bound to be someone that'll want them at that price.

In my opinion, good for canterbury rivers and roads only. Also toying with the creepies believe it or not.
