no idea if he'll be any help, but my mate gary seems to have a lot of '40 bits and pieces lying around (mostly mine at this stage, eh!) but who knows, might be able to help: a1polymer@xtra.co.nz. he's a decent bloke, can't hurt to get in touch i guess.

You definately see them come up on trademe once a month or so but you know what happens when your trying to find one :?

when I did mine I started off with the only thing I knew about chev's was the dizzy was at the back and went into it all completely blind without much mechanical knowledge and learnt as quick as I could, thats what you use your clever mates for

In hindsight unless your a guru that can fabricate an adaptor plate for a chev bell housing I'd always prefer to use a bellhousing kit (I think the only ones here are Graeme Berry, Dellow and Marks adaptors). The Dellow bell housing I used was cast to pick up all the old cruiser parts and mountings, cruiser clutch fork and rubber boot, clutch cover/inspection panel, cruiser slave cylinder, it all just bolted straight on with no mucking around. Input shaft lined up correctly and at the right length into the back of the crank. At the time my mate was replacing a 350 crankshaft in a cruiser that had a homemade adaptor on the back of a chev bellhousing, the inputshaft was not aligned properly and reached the back of the crank on an angle (only a bush in the crank not a bearing) and was starting to make a nice big mess, he spent quite a bit of time fixing it all up and realigning the adaptor plate to get it all right, maybe that was a one off but definately worth being weary of?

With the networking on here somebody should be able find someone thats got some conversion bits lying on the parts shelf and dont forget to add the flywheel and clutch to your shopping list :o

I would have stuck with the auto. Why do you want to convert it back to manual?

Will I, should I, will I ever use it myself, :?: :?: ,  may be someone else could use it.
On the shelf at the back of my shed is a Marks bell housing, it started off as a bellhousing for a 3 or 4 speed Toy box to SB Chev; . It was modified by the previous owner ( he owns an Engineering shop in CHCH) to fit a 70# 5 speed to Chev; . He ran a 350 SB in a 87 70# with std trans, I think he used std Toy clutch, not sure of flywheel.
Anyway, give me a call. 033387202.

V8,V8, 8) 8) . 6, 6,  .

the auto is so bloody long and im going to have a big bit of transfer case hanging down in harms way  not ideal for what i do  to get it up higher i would have to cut a massive hole in the floor and have about 1/3 of the transfer case in the cab :? again, not ideal. i would have liked to run the auto but im having second thoughs about the amount of work it entails to get it to work properly without being a weak point. if i go back to the manual then im back to using my box/transfer/drive shafts/PTO/and good underbody clearance.....which is at the moment a much better and stronger option.

SMOKEY: ill give you a call later tonight or tomorrow dude, is that your home number or can i reach you on that during the day as well ?
