Hi Guys, I have been reading this forum for a while now and thought i should register. Its a great site.
I have a 1990 Suzuki vitara with very basic mods, its great and it can get me anywhere i need to go. I have had a FJ40 in the past and also have a VW beach buggy which loves to get dirty too- in its unique 2wd fashion.
Looks like its time to get a bigger 4x4 now though as family expanding and need a 4 door so may get a surf or terrano - any suggestions ?
Cheers
Mat

Hi Mat, Welcome! although I have to say "now you've done it".
I'm a newbie here too, but if there is one thing I've learnt here, it's that the nissan vs toyota debate rages strong. It could go on for days.
I have a terrano, I like it, but if I were you I'd keep the vitara as well as getting another family wagon. That is if you can afford it, as for what they cost the vitaras are a very capable 4x4. And that way you won't have a run in with the Mrs when you want to play in the mud but she needs the family wagon for shopping.
my thoughts anyway...

92 Diesel Auto Terrano. Stock as a rock, just not quite as exciting... but I'm working on it.

Thanks mungus, good idea but im a bit reluctant to have another wagon as i already have the vw buggy sitting in the shed and the mrs has her own 4door car for shopping
The vitara is awsome but it would be nice to fit gear and people in the wagon when going on a run or camping. Also i tend to tow stuff a bit and feel sorry for the zuk when its got a ton of fire wood or half a metre of wet builders mix behind it
although it does the job very well.
I just want a reliable play wagon weather it be toyota or nissan
?
Cheers

Well, fair enough. For what it's worth, my terrano has done 220000 ks and is still going well. If you look at terranos though, check for rust under the rear seat around the seatbelt bolt holes. A common problem with terranos, which I am told is expensive to fix once it has set in...
