Sweet :D
I am sure Jerry will announce this very shortly. Chances are it will either be around Red Rocks carpark or at the Makara (old, now derilict) petrol station. But then Jerry could throw us a curve ball and have arranged access through somewhere else.
We wait patiently....

meet from 9.30 onwards at the old makara garage [ head to karori, go to the end, turn right at the bus thingy, 1st right round the corner signposted Makara, keep going over the hill past the cemetary, when you get to the flat road there is a white house on the right that looks like a really old gas station, park up on the left off the road [behind the cool looking daihatsu ] or you can park in the garage.

Length of drivers briefing depends on how may inexperienced people are there....otherwise its just a couple of reminders.

head out to Terawhiti 9.55ish and be at the gate 10.00ish, When we get to the Terawhiti house I need to run in quickly, we can move quietly past the house and then air down further down.

If you get lost and/or running late you can try me Ch 10 on the PRS or 027 479 2417

Trip fees TBA (assume up to $20 for land access) I can collect the RSA donation ($20 suggested??), there or you can donate this on the ORE store (still hassling mike to put this up).

Yeah, well I'd love to come, but Mark has a golf outing with his workmates....no doubt will be a can a hole! And I just don't know if I feel confident enough driving all the way by myself??? I will have a think about it, and if I grow some courage I will be there at the old garage on Wednesday.

Is it possible just to cruise around and not have to commit to anything major on the trip? Like if I came and didn't feel happy about doing stuff, I can just follow along and watch? Or are there parts that you have to go and do serious stuff!?

I will have to get Mark to show me how to engage and disengage the 4wd etc but other than that I should be sweet.

So I will have a think about it and as I said, I will meet you there if I muster enough courage. :D

Just do it, you've been there before and know what its like, Mrs Husain was the same as you about driving my truck and when she drives she takes to it as if she's been doing it all her life?

Just do it Handbrake...if you dent the Whale then you can always blame Mark  seriously there is nothing too bad there and all the bogs and things are optional, there are spare co-pilots there if you need....ie Mrs Saddam, Mrs Cloggy, Mr O? (you can always talk about shopping and handbags  )

If Warlord is broke and I need a seat then I'll put in for Gas etc and then sit back and make him lead the trip (good training) and then pick someone to look after the tail...

We can remove the question mark from Pookie_Boy now. Just called him and he is keen as mustard. :D

Ok, well I can see that I will not be able to help myself and will have to come! Will there be any bigger trucks to tow me out of bogs if required ?!

Mark said he would be jealous if I went.....I said tough....he can come, but he has chosen the same path as bubba........drinking himself into a coma on Anzac Day!

Is Shell coming??

Ummm I'll be needing that seat now......as I have just converted Dick to Daihatsuism  bit sorry to see the old girl go  but it will be much happier playing on the farm and the tracks up taupo way...

I may have the Prado by Wed but I'm not holding my breath as it needs a couple of things doing for a WOF.

I'm planning to get my sticky greasy paws on it tomorrow after work  Its already booked in for a WOF on Thursday.

So I'm guessing I have to black out the garage windows and make a wall of barbed wire, machine gun nests, mines etc ....to keep nosey cloggys and their camera's away

This was a great trip with lots of variety and challenge - all on the one great property - Terawhiti.
While very dry we still found challenge in steep hills (thanks for getting me up the last 3 metres Marty.) , ruts and bogs (Why were some people pulled out of the same bog up to 5 times?) .

I look forward to Jerry's trip report and photos.

Cheers
