What would happen Ben, if you modded the headers to point UP and had a front exhaust system?

also finished the steering and had a mock fit up of the shifter, will have to make the stalk a bit longer...or grow ape like arms

Wondered about that, Would it be possible to make a cable shifter and mount it in the dash, out of the way from feet and people who are standing on the seat with a spot light in they hands?
Speaking of spot lights... dont forget, in your re-wiring of the beast, to mount a power outlet for spotties on the back of the roll bar somewhere. Just for future usage, like?

Gotta look at how you did the steering column next time we come up. Hopefully, that will be soonish as regard what we spoke of on the phone.

Looking at those pully's there, if the powersteer pump is going to be driven off only the waterpump pully and not the crank as well, theres not much of the waterpump belt in contact with the waterpump pully to drive the whole lot.

I've got a high mount alternator and had to reduce the size of the belt to drop the hight of the alternator down to get a little bit more wrap around the pully to stop the belt slip :? ... that was driving just the alternator and nothing else

hmmm...good point  maybe if i take the alt belt straight from the crank and make the powersteer belt go from the other ring on the crank around the water pump then to the powersteer....

that should do it nicely if you can get the powersteer pully lined up in the same plane, its the same configuration I've done with the alt and pump on opersite sides

I had really bad belt slip with the alt till I put a smaller belt on and increased the wrap around the waterpump pully

I came accross all these teething problems a year ago and did mine :?

just went to garage and had a bit of a cut and slash session, pully lines up pretty good, and will work much better as you said will give much better pully wrap. exactly the opposite of yours

cheers for the insight

Ummm.... dunno I didn't have to worry about that on mine

my donnor 40 had it at the front LH corner, was very close to the exhaust manifold from memory? I've seen them on both sides and a few back against the firewall where the heater motor goes.
