Macetown

Post by DaveM »

We are heading into Macetown next Sunday if anyone else is keen.

Or if there is another track worth doing, let me know, as I've done this before, so not too worried if we go somewhere else.

its a day trip from arrowtown .
Another good trip is to go into skippers canyon before the blue slip comes down for winter , you can go in a long way , after the school it gets real interesting/hard , i havnt been in there in a long time so some local info on conditions would be a good idea..

Re Macetown: The river is very low at the moment, there's been bugger all rain here for ages, but beware - the low river levels have revealed some rather deep goolies that you would normally keep clear of, towed a Surf out last Fri night, and there have been a few vehicles drowned recently. Get out and wade the river if you're not sure.

Thanks for the info. Can you recommend any other tracks?
Might check out the Skippers Canyon too.

The Skippers trip is very worthwhile, if you are going past the Schoolhouse into Bullendale, make sure you're with someone else, and both have recovery gear.

Nevis Valley Road is a good one, Bannockburn to Garston.
