Goodyear MTR has anyone got them?

Hi, Im wondering how well these wear on road? How many k's on average are you guys getting from them? How well do they perform offroad? What are they good/bad at?

This is only my opinion as I know heaps of guys out there love them. I find they clog with mud too easily and don't clear fast enough to gain traction. They do hug the sides of ruts well. They do wrap around rocks well too. They can be a bit slippery on wet roads. Do wear well on tarseal. I have staked two through the sidewalls though both within six months, on rocks. Overall, I would not buy them again as an allrounder. Good luck in getting soem as I heard that 31, 33 and 35 are unavailable in NZ for another two months.

I've seen them work really well on a bighorn and a Terrano, both were diesel, there owners love them. They seemed to clear well on both these vehicles, might be a weight thing.

hi have 265/75 R16's 31"on my safari got them for my mazda, long as they spin they cleared , a bit small and narrow on the safari but no rear probs with them on any surface ,will get 33' or 35' x 12's next

I second bundy & believe it is a rev thing. They require alot of wheel speed to clear compared to a BFG for example, and wouldn't be buying any however this is only from what I've seen. Very good on rock, they were the popular tyre in Utah.

im running them,i havent had any probs,seam to clear fine,havent had any prob with on road,they done every thing ive asked of them off road compared to the hankook RT 01.and my mate running them on his navara hasnt had probs with them.

i run them on my surf and have found that they clear way better when aired down. but yea they do need abit of speed. once they start clearing they seem to go bloody well. i had buckshots before this and even though they would clear faster you still werent going anywhere like you do when these start clearing properly. but yea buckshots arent that great lol. id say with your v8 you wouldnt have any prob clearing them but they will b shit in mud compared to your old simex.

got them to spin on my mazda 2.6 ute but they were 31" s
my aired down MTr's could not handle the clay on sunday clogged up would not clear parked the truck walked around

A lot of the new Hilux's up at the Globe Mine here in Reefton are now running them. They are running around all day in mid-shin depth wet mud & clay at low speeds - and most of the drivers I've spoken to really like them.

I've had them on my SWB Saf for 6 months and love em :lol:

On road they perform well and seem to be wearing well.
Off road they do everything i need them too,however i dont go as hard out as Al and others so not a great comparison there.
And last of all and most important :wink:

is they "look good"

i agree, i run simex and they look crap, by bfg,s look big and fat, get a wide mud terrain, cant remember what tyres this is about but as long as they look good

I think they are quiet for an MTR,nothing a small adjustment on the stereo knob wont fix :wink:

Yep - Firestones - not as aggressive as teh ATX23's they put out. Seem to be more of an AT than MT. Had some on the old Safari - both RMT's and ATX's.

Hey guys my two cents worth, the MTR is a good wearing tyre and seem to be the tyre of choice for the onroad offroad combination.

I have 5 32" MTR'S in the shed they didnt really do what i wanted off road but realistically it was more the height than the tyre pattern i think that let me down, so the 35" creepy's put them to shame.

I also have them on my fleet ute and they are F##@in noisy but are wearing well, absolute shit for handling but that may come down to the 1 ton of tools on board. For some reason my 35" creepies are nowhere near as noisy maybe its the cheap arse 2006 FORD Courier im driving..........Ha Ha........
