1.6 diahatsu feroza back firing and losing power

Post by Hillman »

i have a 1990 1.6 diahatsu feroza with 88000ks on the clock. It started back firing about a week ago. It only back fires as i slow down and change down a gear but now it has started to lose power. does anyone have any ideas what could be my problem and where I could start to look to check things.
thanks

Have a look here as well.... http://www.warfs.org/

They have Feroza service manuals that you can download which may help.
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)

plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor. change all those and do a full service.

I would guess that its still getting a small amount of fuel through, but the plugs arn't igniting it and its burning in the pipe hence the back firing.

oh and while your at it change the fuel filter and all that

check on your inlet manifold for any hoses that could be leaking or put a petrol soaked rag around where the manifold bolts to head to check for leaks, could be vacum, cheers
