Hi
Can you guys tell me if you can get a 90 ish 3.0 v6 auto pajero into low and not engage 4wd . had a quick dirve of one yesterday and not sure if it has auto type hubs or something else . ie electric . Dropped it into 2 low and the green front wheel lights were flashing along with the orange centre diff , I take that as they were not engaged ?
Need to run one on tarmac in low range

Low range 2wd
It's most likely a sensour problem.
Some individual car has this because of not often used or it have never been used in case if it comes from Japan recently.
I think the hub lock is air operated if it is NH onwared whci has "super Select".
I do not recomend engaging to low in tarmac, if the center orange right is on.
It means the center diuff is locked.

HI, Firstly, no you can't run a Paj in 2wd and low range unless the vacuum line has has come off under the bonnett that provides air to engage 4wd. This will meant the front wheel drive lights will continuously flash until it goes in.
They do go in a lot easier after that have been used a bit - When I got mine the lights would flash for a little while (a few hundred metres) but now with a lot of use it goes in instantly.
Another very common reason can as PAJ94 mentioned is the sensors can get a bit of dirt in them - These sensors are up on the side of the gearbox.
Hope this helps

SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods

Early Pajeros had auto hubs, from 1990 on they were basically full time 4WD with a 2WD option.
Yes the front drive shaft and both axles are always turning.
Either free wheeling hubs or take the front driveshaft off
would work. Free wheeling hubs would just bolt on easily.
