toyota 6m-ge wiring info needed

Post by pinky »

hi guys i need some help with the wiring on my enging ( 6m-ge) . this is a bit of a long story so grab a beer light a smoke and sand the wife to the shop for more beer . ok what i have done so far brought a s\hand 6m-ge +loom+ecm sounds good so far ah... but its not all bad the engine goes like stink but i am having trouble with some of the ecm wiring . this is what i think is wrong the serial No. on the block is 6mxxxxx and the ecm has 5MG printed on it but this is the ecm that was supplied with the engine. this is where it starts to get confusing . for those that are familiar with these engines eather ......5m ...6m....or a 7m thay all share similarites with the base components . so off i go to my local toyota dealer to get me some wiring diagrams so far so good so i started to get in to the wiring which is not to bad to do as i have some experience with this . so i did all the B+ and grounds and some other ING.. wiring then i turned my attention to the O2 /ox sensor and the KNK/KNOCK sensor as these 2 sensors do not go through the main engine loom . but go to the body first and then to the ECM and this is my main problem as all the wiring books that i looked at show that the O2 and KNK sensor go to the 18 pin plug at the ECM but where the wiring should go to on this plug (according to the wiring diagrams ) there is no wires .. now ill help you guys out the 6m-ge that i have is basically a 7m-ge in a 5m-ge block this engine runs the same ECM as the 7m-ge which consists of a 10 pin plug + a 18 pin + a 24 pin plug but the only difference that i can tell is that my ecm only has 1 coil output and the 02+KNK sensor are in a different location . SO fell free to ask questions and post replys as some one out there most have been there befor me just so you all know this is not an old style 5m-ge ecm which only has 2 plugs how would of thought that 2 wires can cause so much trouble.

Ive just looked through some toyota stuff ive got here the only wiring diagram ive found with the 10 18 24 pin plugs shows the knock sensor in the last pin on the 18 pin plug and the oxygen sensor in the first pin on the 24pin plug, dont have a scanner but could fax it to if required.

I googled for about 1/2 an hour, couldn't find any diagrams for that :( Looks like it's in the engine supplement book though....
