Oil cooler??

Post by 4x4skid »

hello again,

1st im still pretty new here, but im luvn it, wish i had of looked this up early, its always good chating with pple who undastand our crazyness.
Aswell as the help and idea sharing is brilliant.

2nd i have changed the radiator in my ute, my old 1 was getting a bit shaged and a new placement also, what im wondering is the radiator i now have has an auto oil cooler built into it, as mine is a manual i dont need this, but have thought about running my engine oil thru it, only prob being, deisel engine oil is a fair bit thicker than auto fluid, especialy when cold.

has any1 tryd this or have any thorts??

cheers skid,

Not worth the risk, you may get oil starvation at the higher revs.
Better to Buy a purpose built cooler.

Its normally used for the auto fluid, so perhaps you can use it for your power steering oil!
