Terrano Regulus idle

Post by rosek »

Hi,

I have a Regulus with the QD32ETI. Currently when the car is cold and I am stopped in drive the car shudders, If I apply a slight bit of throttle and bring the revs up ~ 100prm its fine.

Im wondering if there is anyway to adjust the idle up slightly? I had a hunt but confused myself as it uses an electronic throttle (no cable)

Besides this the car runs perfect.

Any help would be appreciated

Dont quote me on this, but off the top of my head:

Cold idle with heat switch on: varies between 700-1000, when in drive it drops back to just below 700 and shudders. If I bring the revs up to 800rpm its fine.

I think the hot idle is between 700-800 and there is no trouble with vibrations when stopped in drive.

The idle value stated on the underside of the bonnet is 700rpm, i'm not sure if this is hot/cold though

Ring your local Nissan dealer, might get an answer from them.
Always thought the heat switch was only needed in really cold climates

I think I will get in touch with nissan, I'm hoping its a simple fix. Its more annoying than anything.

From my understanding, and like on a previous Bighorn, The cold switch was only really needed in winter but I seem need it all the time to raise the idle.

Unfortunately I dont have a workshop manual to refer to

Hi,

I also have one of these vehicles.

There are two problems here. One is the idle problem. This is corrected by adjusting the idle. The idle adjustment is located behind the centre column on the dash near the radio. You need to get to it from the drivers side.

The other problem you have is that your vehicle is probably automatic and the automatic fluid has been replaced by other than the genuine Nissan fluid. The genuine is expensive but critical to proper operation at cold temperatures.

I hope this helps.

I also have an english edition of the engine and gearbox workshop manual this is where I was able to obtain the above information.

Cheers
