Especially when its your own wagon not starting due to hitting the water at excessive speed.......

I reckon groups of 4 or 5 equally matched vehicles is probably the way to go. There might be the odd "head on" meeting between some of the groups on some tracks but if the groups are small there shouldn't be too much difficulty passing each other.
Intelligent use of PRS radios could avoid those situations as well.
