don't listen to them, the front end flex's and roks....... big timebut the rear
coolest thing i've seen in ages![]()
I'm jealous I admit.......but more importantly when we going up the gorge
hehehe I wasnt bagging the front, it has heaps of flex but looks dismal compared to the rear.

The front is a bit more complex you have steering linkages to consider, the sump from the motor in the way... and the really fun bit.. you stuff up the design you can give it really scarry handling under brakes and at road speed you effect under steer / over steer
With the back its handling wise easyer... you can still effect steering but its mainly the tracking, how far inside the front wheels the back tracks (if you can understand that
) and the fun one how well it hooks up under load, steep climb or excelleration. Worst case you get wheel hop and there are ways round that if its bad
Very Nice flex there rik for rubber bushes
I'm really impressed!!
You certian you want to be using airshocks onroad, alot of the pirate guys rant on about how bad they are and how it kills the shocks!!
Cheers Reece

yeh dave got it rear a bit easier fronts gonna take a bit more thinking about plus need to get the rear road freindly first and the leaves will help
as for the travel ive got in the front its enough for now ive got long travel shocks in there and use all of it give or take a few mm
the rear has 400mm of travel and im useing 350mm
as for all the travel it does help keep it a bit more stable offroad and the rear helps keep the power on the ground with the leaves the back end used to bounce when climbing steep banks but first trials today there was none of that

well i dont see how it will kill them on the road no more than any normal shock
they are rebuildable so im gonna stick with them reece ive got 4 so for the time being 2 spares so i might put off doing the front till i see how well they last
also ive still got the option of coil overing them or putting coils in which wouldnt be to hard
cheers rik

well i dont see how it will kill them on the road no more than any normal shock
Normal shocks are nitrogen charged which also acts as a coolent and lubricant, the argument the pirate guys use is they are low pressure non-lubed, low speed seals and the road vibrations heat them up from all the small high speed oscilations killing them... as I've said this is all second hand off Pirate... so long as it dosn't take to much and cost to much to rebuild em as you say I'd try em
Cheers Reece
yeh these are nitrogen charged and contain oil which creates the ride height and the dampening effect which is caused by oil moving past the piston through a valve
so working on that theory these are lubricated nitrogen cooled shocks only differance is they run a higher pressure of nitrogen
just wondering if the boys on pirate are running fresh air in them i have done this and they worked fine but i gather theres a risk of the oil foaming up which causes the shocks to malfunction as the oil is to thin with the ir bubbles in it
thanks for the input reece helps to look a bit deeper somtimes
cheers rik

My Arse they are!
You pumped 'em up with a bike pump! Mr "I'm too cheap to get em pumped up properly"
Nice flex, although that second shot from the rear makes the tyres look like 29"s.... Time for the 40's...
Hows the clearance on the LH tyre to the panhard mount when the RH tyre drops?
