whats the same ??

Post by motivated »

What running gear is the same between a 90 and a 92 Pajero ??

Is it dangerous to assume that if they both have the V6 that the motors are the same, diffs, tranfer boxes, gearbox etc,etc

And how the hell do I do the valve guide seals in place. I cant see how you would compress the springs.

Thanks in advance.

in a nutshell - Nothing.

Different transfer case, gearbox, wider track... 92 will have full time 4wd option.... Super Select. Gearbox's may be similar however I doubt it. Wider hub to hub (not much).

you need some special tools to change seals.you have to fill the cylinders with air to hold valve in place. You can get a valve spring compressor that grabs the spring at the bottom and sits on the retainer at top, then you just wind it down and it compressors ths spring. Some people make up bars to lever the spring down but you need 2 sets of hands to do it.If you were in dorkland i could do it for you.

The old way is to feed rope in through the spark plug hole then wind piston to top using rope to hold valves shut

Wasn't requiring any work done, but as I just purchased a Mitsi I'm guessing the day is coming.

That rope idea sounds like it came from a southland farmer or a cave man, or is that one in the same.

Thanks for the replies

sounds strange but the rope idea really works but use nylon not hemp as sometimes the hemp can leave bits in the cyclinder

Was only looking for a bite - joking ok

You must admit if it can be fixed a southland farmer will fix it, and its frequently with a very different, even amazing approach, like sticking a rope down the bore.

BTW, I stay on a farm down south frequently (Winton)
