umm i can see some logic there
that tree would not be taking the full force of the winch
think about it like this if you have a roll of fencing wire how hard is it to pull it tight with one end fixed and you pulling the other end
but if you fix both ends and pull the wire sideways it is alot easier to get the wire tight
similar forces to what is happening in the pic
does that make sense you are all welcome to shoot me down if you disagree
my 4wd is not a truck

old mercedes never die but sometimes they do need some love

older cars are good, mercedes are better, older mercedes are the best

I would also use a snatch bock at the 90 degree angle, would use a dampner on the wire between truck and tree, also wouldn't stand where that dude is  Apart from that looks ok too me.

Totally agree with Al, plus - I would also put a rated shackle onto the tree-trunk protector - rather than just slipping the hook into the eyes of the strap/protector

he wouldn't have to move anything to turn the corner, just get rid of the middle tree protector and shackle, but yes a snatch block would be better...

that looks pretty slippery
i was thinking with the tension and stretch of the tree strop that the winch rope would slide in the shackle possible damaging it
leaving a kink

it doesnt take alot to damage it with alot of load on it

good too see you guys are thinking
