There is a good camp ground in Greymouth that is walking distance to the pub. They have a full range of accomodation. Don't go booking anything just yet as I have to work out a few finer details related to the numbers, might be too many to stay at the waitahui, which you won't be as we will do that on the friday. I will let everyone know by the end of the week.

Looks like you'll have to scratch me from the list
Turns out my next course for work runs through that weekend :x

I guess at least 4 of the 11 days is getting my 4wd unit standards, just wish I could talk them into running it on the coast

Trip update:
guys little change to the plan. I have a new position at work so am unable to get the friday off. Plan is to meet and stay at the Otira pub on friday night $25 ea. Please book your own accomodation. We will then set off early on saturday and do no name rd, waipuna tunnels and napoleons hill. We will stay in the greymouth top ten, again please book your own accomodation. Pub meal both fri and sat nights if you want. Sunday we can again play around greymouth, Robbie has a few ideas up his sleeve. Plan to get back to CHCH on sun evening. So far we have four trucks coming, me, Robbie, Tim and Rob and Adam. Anyone else want to come and play????

Looking good. We are all booked in and two new tyres coming down from Petone to replace my slick fronts...chose to stick with the goodyears rather than simex which were the other choice...can't get any for the back until a back order arrives but still have chains if need be! :(

I believe it will probably be just down the stairs to the drinking hole adam, so not far to crawl after all Als birthday celebrations!

Since youve been such a good member of the site and organising a few good trips, I think no one will object if the site throws you a small bit of recovery gear your way? Take your pick of the following,

4.75t shackle
4M Legal Towing strap
Tow Hook
Heavy Cargo strap (bloody good quality these things not like those budget warehouse things)

If you don't respond I'll choose for you ;-)

Bill...That road will have soft spots in it this time of year so be careful, presuming it isn't covered in snow and ice. What time are you gonna be there?

Al recommended it.... what do you think???? looked at the map, doesnt look that high... but dont really want to get stuck on it...

Have had a slight problem in Wanaka this week so will have to pop over there first, but will be leaving 11:30ish.... not sure how long it will take though.

cheers

Bill if the road is not closed it will be fine, just it has soft spots that you don't want to hit too going too fast. Also some of them are so sft your truck may just sledge straight on if on a corner. Just need to be aware of the problem and drive accordingly.

Have posted a few photos in an album " untitle": I know Plonker. Have asked Mike to fix it for me. Clutch is fixed, but am restrained as I am waiting for a fork boot to come from Japan. That's what stuffed it= mud and sticks in behind the pressure plate= stuffed. All better now, looking for more fun to come. By the way, photo on front cover was way before I killed the bitch!

Hey Mike,
all that work on the series 3 got me thinkin, I'm a qualified expert you know ( just like some people who write columns in clubs) as I've had a couple of rovers over the years myself,
why don't you just buy a range rover or county??
save yourself a lot of work, and same result??

erm, bonnett up+ $ = GB manufactured

I did, I bought a donor rangie going for $500  but I want the ugliest most uncomfortable LR in new zealand that can go places. that way its to ugly to steal and I'll never need to wash it! Who needs leg room, comforatable seats, big windows to see out of, descent heating, door seals that work and wipers that go faster than a duck crossing the road.

Prob the real reason is I want to build a truck from the ground up that is unique but not....if you get my drift.
