Transferable 12v winch

Post by giovanni »

I am in the market for a transferable 12v winch for me Pantry.

Not the Supercheap come Repco cheaper boat trailer type though.

I been looking at the Topmaq marketed XDJ5000 on a plate, hanging off either the front or rear tow hitch.

Any one have any ideas on whats a good all round winch for under $1K.

More than you want to spend but I had a good run with the Warn M6000SDP on my Zuk. Before you consider a portable winch, consider the weight & if you'll be able to carry it up a muddy hill.

You probably won't get a 'good' winch new for under $1K, only an average one.

& WTF is a Pantry?

Cheers

If it breaks, build it stronger.
If it doesn't break, drive it harder.

Google is your friend, the problem is how stiff you want the mounting to be you rely on the pin strength and socket strength and any twisting or bending flexing can cause it to bind.

There is an ATV version that does this and a mate used something similar on a trailer for jetski's and another trailer for his quad, they were fine for a straight pull but any angles ets and it was a PITA to get off. He ended up permanantley mounting it for the ATV (it was dead more often than not going on the trailer)

Anyway there is a bit on it here. remember the stiffer stronger you make it the heavier it is and doing this in mud whater or whatever to recover the car could be very annoying.
