Post by wopass »

looks like an interesting pattern :D be good to see how well they go on and off road

might be looking at a play up thompsons this weekend instead of goin motocrossing, cant really afford the $$$ for entry fees and gas to get there and back etc, so might take the truck for a play instead :D ,, see what the rest of the week brings, be a good chance for you to try them out in the mud and see if the track has had a bully up it

and my simex's should be set on the beads by now so i can let them down a bit :D and go right up to the top clearings from the crossroads to the left  where i was heading last time and broke my winch cable bein silly :? ... must make it up

Arrrrg, i've been bursting for weeks!!!!

Any one want a set of Maxxis Buckshot muders to burn on a bonfire???
Or to do burn outs with???
They still have 11mm of tread after 20,000k's running (new 13mm).

Reckon i should take em Thompsons next weekend for one final slither in the mud     .

Yeah!!!!!!!
The Geolanders showed up yesterday and are all fitted and good to go.
They look the buisness, and are a healthy amount taller than the Maxxis Mudders which was the whole idea.
Very pleased and looking forward to testing them out!!!!!

Will take a couple of pic's tonight if all goes well!!!!

just out of interest, what rims do you run on your rig?
ive been runnung hilux whitespokes with the centres machined out and would have an extra 150-200mm of track over the standard wheels.
good for the old one wheel in the rut / one out

8JJ X 15 00 3 YF is what i got on there at the moment. I will do a measure up when i put my off road wheels back on next.
I don't want the old girl any wider than she is, i just want the tyres to stick out slightly past the gards to protect the body work. I have enough problems following hilux's etc in the tight stuff as it is!!!

Hey DB, how are the Yokohama's going?
Looking at these, MT/R's or Simex at the moment, MT/R's arrive the end of Nov. Simex's wear too quickly, which leaves the G001's.

Do they run sidewall lugs like the BFG's etc, and do you run tubes?
Can get them for $278ea fitted so don't know whther or not to wait for the MT/R's.

Cheers,

Dave, the Yokohama's seem to be going really well!!

I have been using them on the road a bit more than i should have recently and you can still see the Knobbly bits from the molding right accross the tyres.

The tread extends down the side walls a bit.

I'll get some real life photo's for ya.

Tubes are essential in a Safari

Especially when you are tyring to squeeze through Hilux sized ruts

I looked at the Mongrels, but the only prices I could get were very close to Simex ($315ea compared to $330ea for Simex).

The other reason I didnt really look into it is I can't be bothered with wheel swapping.

There was a guy (I'm bad at remembering names) on the Waimak trip in a white Safari who bought his last Mongrels in 33's for $219ea. At that price I'd buy some.
