Leaf Spring Dissembly

Post by Steve_t647 »

Hi I am trying to pull apart the leaf pack from my hilux, but the pin is just turning. Can I just throw the locator pin in the vice and unscrew it or just chop it and replace it?

Soaked the thread for the last 3 days every night with CRC before the attempt, and same on both spring packs.

cheers Steve.

put it in a vice if you want, or use a grinder  You'd want to use new bolts anyway. Any spring manufacturer will sell them. Like Bellamy and East here in Ch Ch. Bout $6 bucks each. Some of these bolts come with a shitty standard nut. So make sure you get a high tensile nut as well.

Thanks H2O, so how do you do them up  just as tight as poss and throw on some Loctite? I guess I will see the springmakers anyway to get a couple of spring pins.

Cheers

I am sure that if you were to follow the manufacturers specs there will be a torque setting for it  . I just do it up as tight as i can  The spring man should be able to tell you.
