Fighting and bickering..... (sigh)
You all know, deep deep down, right in the soul, that EVERY 4x4 running around today is a pretender to Jeep. Jeep started it, and everything stemmed from there....... You owe it all to Willys/Kaiser/Ford......
Dont deny it, you all know it.
(The other sad reality is that until, as previously mentioned, the advent of the rubicon with factory everything, Jeep had been well surpassed by the Jappas, VX limited for example with electric factory front and rear lockers........ but im not prepared to admit that just yet, denial is a wonderful thing!!)

erm no..... quite the opposite.
Willys/Overland bagan production of the Jeep in 1941 to the following military requirements:
load capacity of 600 pounds
wheelbase under 75 inches
height under 36 inches
engine run smoothly from 3 to 50 miles per hour
rectangular shaped body
two speed transfer case with four wheel drive
windshield that folds down
three bucket seats
blackout and driving lights
Gross vehicle weight under 1200 pounds
(http://www.ajeepthing.com/jeep-cj-willys-history.html)
Rover launched the "landrover project" in 1947.
Board Meeting minutes describe it as "the all-purpose vehicle on the lines of the Willys-Overland post-war Jeep was the most desirable" using the P3 engine, gearbox, and back axle.
In reality the first prototypes were already running, with design work starting in spring 1947

Wouldn't 3" be too big for it? I was planning on a 2.5" system. Where did you get your extractor from?

A Jeep family, wondeful. I am thinking about getting a JK Rubicon, intially for family, but when its old enough to become a toy.
I had a similar experience with an O2 sensor, Jeep wanted $280 + GST. I got a Bosch unit for $130 + GST. I have imported most of the stuff for the TJ - its much cheaper that way.
