your gonna love it in there mate

my weekend has started early as i had booked an extra day off today (friday) to make ready for the big trip to welly...unfortunatly not going but have made some progress on the truck that i wanted to get done instead :D

made some wedges to slip into the rear spring perches to point the drive shaft at the transfer case a little, welded them in and bolted it all up, much better :D

i ordered some new U bolts from 4wdbits the other day and they turned up so opened the bag and they were the wrong ones  damn it i hate when you order the wrong parts by accedent ! ! ! that twice ive done it now ! ...anyway, thought i would try to make them work for what i needed and managed to bugger the thread down one side of one U bolt so havent even unwrapped the other 3,will have to ask warren nicely if i can swap the untouched 3 for the other ones that i should have ordered in the first place and shell out for another...... wheres Warren ?

anyway....weekends off to a good start...ish

Hey Ben any reason for not welding spring perches on at a greater angle? I asume you've used wedges as was easier than cutting off and rewelding the perches?

Just curious as I've tacked mine into place for now as there was no transfer case for me to aim the pinion at. I assume you've had to do this due to new engine/gearbox/tcase being different length to factory set up?

Scored shitloads of future brownie points by taking the family away to Akaroa for the weekend. Pissed down sat nite so couldn't help myself, had to have a look at the 4wd tracks didn't I. Really slippery but shit loads of fun, no problems thank god as the handbrake was on board  Plenty of mud on it now needng to be washed off down the Conway next weekend 8) :P

was going to pick up the jet ski today with the safari to go for a ride, went into a street to pick the ski up and was probably going about 50-60 kms and BANG the rear left wheel falls off. Lucky the wheel stayed inside the guards but the disc decided to churn up the rim

brake disc is a bit dented and the rim has been shed on the inside a bit. all the bolts on the hub have been shawn along with two of the bolts breaking off.

whirinaki damage

Post by coxsy »

whirinaki forest loved the place spent 3 hours hanging on the end of my winch cable satarday, sunday 20 trucks in convoy a tour though the soft tracks .
saterday broke right side of the grille, sidelight suday stoved in the right hand guard , fair lead wore groves in the rollers bund up the winch which then jamed in gear plus locked the trans in gear as well

How have you found it running the 35's so far Pete?
Still debating whether or not its worth while running them without a turbo.

Mate IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

Its a different truck off road, goes nearly anywhere you point it provided you don't sink  I toured the whole south island on them, 5700k's, and it was fine, will still do 140kph on a straight road, just a little slower to pick up speed to pass and a tad slower up hills but the difference off road makes up for it 10x 8)
