damn, onotha chch guy

Post by bigpigcruiser »

hey guys, I have an fj55 cruiser. i have converted it into a ute which I think is really cool. its got a custom exhaust, and a custom steering setup. it has a spring over and I have got it sitting on 38.5" swampers which I got my uncle to import for me.

I broke a cv today i think. i was turning into a ditch and gave it a bootfull and it went crack. not with the hubs locked it drags the wheel, and I cant turn it. so, will it be a coarse spline cv? I dont know what year it is because its deregistered.

who around christchurch does rock crawling because i think it looks like cool fun and i want to get into it.

also, is it a good idea to weld my diffs? i think more traxion will be gud.

If you are talking about the tyres (I'm not taking the piss, I think this is what you mean) then I would guess they are ok on rocks but nothing else?
Haven't dont rock crawling before, but would have thought you would want more tread than that, but others will tell you.

thankyou finally for some helpful input. My tyres (i still think its better spelt tahs) r not very good in mud. i was hoping they might be good in rock. can i put the angle grinder through them 4 more tread?

hosehustler, i read ur steering thread and i saw your steering setup. i dont think it is as good as my setup.

Mate - Those swampers would be awesome for the beach. Heaps of surface area on those puppys (esp at 38.5").

Not sure abouut an angle grinder,I'd say you would tear the tyre open. Not sure how deep the rubber is on these either.
To get those size again you'd be looking at big $$$ too
