Hi after a set of front and rear shocks to replace standard shocks in my sj410
suzuki anybody got any they would part with??? Thanks
suzuki shocks
suzi shocks
yeah mate sounds good got set of shocks out of light truck at moment but there f**ked like being on some sort of park ride hehe
Light truck shocks would be interesting
The hilux ones in the rear work well cause they end up laid over. The VN commodore ones are long as 250mm travel and are good for the front. Got them cheap on TM paid about 50 bucks all up. the commy ones are gas monroes.
Up front you cut the original shock upper mount off. I made new mounts out of a bit of 65x40 RHS cut into a channel. Weld a top on it and the bolted with crush tubes hard against the rear edge of the bumpstop mount.
You have to cut the bump stop back edge off all the way to the rubber (bolt has to go but stays on ok.) Passenger side watch out for engine mount. I added a wing at the bottom rear on passenger side to bolt through.
Also need to cut inner fender. If you bend the mount to clear the fender you run out of clerance on compression.
Out back i used a peice of 40mm SHS drilled to go onto the original upper shock mounts. Under that weld another bit of 40mmmSHS cut into channel in the centre and about 200 mm long. Shocks bolt into the channel.
The Right side one gets bolted bolted to the rear of this arangement otherwise the diff pumpkin and brake line braket hit shock on landing. (dont ask how i know that
)
I cant remember the exact measurments but will measure them and post pics tomorrow.
these mounts have been hammered including a few jumps etc and have stood up well. Not sure if the WOF guy would pick the mods but i doubt it.
I was running extended shackels all round. 50mm in front and 100+mm in rear over original and the springs were stopping the droop and compression at rear and hitting bump stops at fromt. Unlike the factory shocks which were restricting travel all round. The shocks will be going back in with the new diffs and coils.
Front passenger side mount.
Rear mount close up. ignore the angle of the shocks. the axle is no longer there.
New RHS transfer mount. the factory one bends with slightly larger tyres. This required the moving of the front mount inboard 20mm.
Photos are in the gallery in the untiltied album, untiltiled with picture of red suzuki in flood water if you want bigger pics
