which mamaku track DJ? are they off the "galaxy" road??

not telling wait and see, Dont want every man and his dog to arrive and do this or other tracks without the paper work, gets me a worse reputation. Besides when all the coments about peoples trucks capablities have come in then I'll know which track is do able and we may split into two groups one for tuff and not so tuff then meet up later. THIS IS ONLY AN IDEA at the moment and subject to change The First person that says "but you said " will be following me on a Mx bike, ask Mr cr if thats fun.
Mr cr hows that head / did u manage to spit out all the stones and sparks bet you didnt think u could do 60 to 80kph up thompsons track eh ?and I still laugh about almost landing next to the yuppies MU's
cheers DJ
keep the vehical coments rollin in

Busy weekend!!!

Looks like we are getting quite a group together for this venture!!!!

Good to see there are some good keen folk up in this part of the country.

Important:

All vehicles must have some form or safe recovery point at the front and rear of the vehicle.
Whether that is the tow bar at the rear with the ball replaced with a D shackle and a hook (factory or other wise) at the front.

Note: tie down loops on the chassis are not suitable.

If every one could make sure before the come that would be great!!!

Cheers,
Pete.

So a quick tally up of who's coming in what:

 Me(DieselBoy) = Whale = Off to the pannel beater to get stone chips on my inner gaurds fixed

 Wopass = Cruiser = Somthing about sinking in deep water?? He doesn't even have a snorkel!!!

 DJ = Hybrid Surf = Mission Comander Sir.

 Klompy = ??? = Dj's mate, so obiviously somthing equally insane

 mr_cr = dble cab lo lux =Wopass's dodgy mate

 Chops = heep = Wants to prove he can go further than a automatic honda civic on 13's.

 De-Ranged = Pajero = wants to prove he can go further than Chops's heep

 Furgus = LR90 = Just wants to make it to the start of the track

 Guppy = Lo lux = keen, but worried about scuffing his 21" Chromies before doing the laps up Queen Street on Saturday night

 Brother of the dodgy Wopass =Celica powered Zook = I need BIG exhaust!!!!

Remoured to be coming:

:?: Liftedfj = Cruiser = Dunno, but he has rear seats out of a Honda Civic i hear...........................

I reckon we have enough to sort out a place to meet on Saturday Morning!!!

9am is a good time, up a six, leave at 7, two hours to get to the meeting point. You can get most places in two hours.

We'll see what DJ pulls outa the bag in terms of where we head, then we can make a better call on a time and meeting place.
If ya think of a 9am meeting time on Sat morning, i doutb the final time will be that much different.
No one worried about driving home in the dark??
Winter and all, make the most of the day that way!!!

Now you know how I said I thought that the glow plugs were a bit iffy, & how it didn't start all that well :?: :?: :?: :?:

Well now it appears to be f*#$@d :( :( :( :( :(

Loaded it up this morning to take the empty beer bottles (ginger beer obviously :P ) to the dump and the little b@$^@#d wouldn't start :( :( :( :(

So off I toddled to the nearsest repco & just about spilled my meths when told that 6 new glowplugs would cost $196 :( No damn way am I spending that cash when the motors coming out soon. 8)

Around comes a mate (Neil - the guy I co-drive for in the Nationals) to try & cheer me up - and we mess about to no avail - anyway run the battery flat trying to start it up - no worry try another battery - not enough charge in any other batteries :? :?

Ok what next :!: cunning idea :!: lets try starting it up with some ether 8)

Roll started it down the drive (Mike you know the drive :!: :!: :!: ) fired up OK - blowing lots of smoke but hell it's a diesel - left it to idle for about 1 1/2 hrs to charge up the battery - try & restart it NOTHING :? :? :? :?

Sounds as if we've killed the starter.

Anyways - doesn't look like I'll be able to play next weekend now

DieselBoy this is all your fault -

Furgus = LR90 = Just wants to make it to the start of the track

I blame you completely

Well at least one good thing has come of it - the V8 that has been sat in the shed that I'd decided to use to repower the 90 got a good look at today - and we could be onto a winner :P :P :P

Opened it up and it has had a new cam recently - so hopefully rings, lifters etc were done at the same time :D :D :D

The motor went with Neil to the workshop this arvo & tomorrow we'll do a compression test & try & fire it up - if it's all good that a transplant is on the way.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Will start a new thread & post pics as we go

Yeah your right thats one steep drive  Thought I wouldnt make it up there in the old girl

I reckon you could do a conversion in a week  You need to get some LR blood going on that trip. Far to many toyotas and nissans (one is to many :albino: )
Must be someone on here who can send you some glow plugs to borrow for the trip. Try messaging humvee (top LR nut as well) , last count I recall him having two ld28 engines. Mention your a LR nut and I'm sure he'll save the day :D
