Yeah pretty good day out after the salvage issues, Fukin Jeeps ha ha ha, Mark you know you can rely on my old slug to get us home....

There are some pretty interesting tracks down there, but Fuk it was pretty cold too....be a good place to camp over night and give it a good hammering....

Its been quite sometime since i had to get a tug to get me out of the shit but Cheers Sam....the 32 psi i was running in those creepies definately didnt help.

The place certainly needs a few more wide tracked Safaris with ten " wheels on them to cut those tracks a bit wider...was pinching out all over the place....

Has some good pivoting ramps to cock a leg and get a stretch on and smash ya taillights ......Aye Sam.

Got a few Pics and vid to post up shortly..

TJ wrote:Well, XJs use the same transfer case as TJs and YJs (i.e. NP231). How about you put your transfer case in her Wrangler and buy an Atlas II for yourself!!!!

I am surprised at your results though, because I have not known many NP231 blowing up without absolute abuse thrown at them. Was this an import wiht no history?

1) now theres a bloody good idea!
2) NZ new, i doubt its been thrashed. All city drivers as far as i was told. We'll get a prognosis tomorrow as to what needs to be done. The noise, as Dixie pointed out, sounds like torque converter.

Okay, torque converter is in the transmission - i.e. you have blown up the transmission!!!!! 8) 8) This is generally because of either heat (oil running hot) or water ingress. A good transmission would be Chevy TH400, should bolt up with an adapter to NP231 transfer case if it was a 4wd version. It would involves different lenght driveshafts, etc. ....

Let the guys have a look tomorrow, you might be lucky and its nothing major other than dirty oil clogging up things.

lol sadam, yeah. something else will break next week and this will seem like a distant memory................ like sex....................

TJ - yeah...... water ingress allright. Lots of the filthy shit. Though ive been in deeper water then that with the cho'kee and never had a drama. I expected to have sucked some into the airbox..... not the bloody transmission!!

Oddly enough, XJs came out with 4.0l engine and NP231 transfer case but used AW4 transmission which is different from a Wrangler (with the same engine and transfer case). Man those Jeep designers must have been smoking something.

Another idea would be to use a Chevy 700R4 transmission. It came in many GMs so might be in some Holdens too. There are many write-ups of this being done on the internet. And its only one inch longer than the Wrangler transmission.

Well TJ, they has a selection of 5 different serpentine belts to choose from!

My old cj5 ran AMC 304, which was made up of ford parts.....

Two different wheel cylinders too, and again for the XJ, theres 5 different size front swaybar bushes.......

But i will not be swayed.......

I guess thats what happens when you pull on the top side of a hook which is most likely when your normally stuck down in the shit.....and the other mounting eye failure is obviously yet another fault with the jeep fleet...He he he

Nope, the passengers side did exactly what it was designed to do. It was obviously over loaded, and they are designed to straighten out when over loaded.

Drivers side due to shock loading from snatching without a snatch strap perhaps??

Yes they should straighten out when overloaded, just hope there is no shackle in the rope when they do! But notice the other one looks to be close to ripping out of the chassis also...... Could be a point for all of us to think about when fitting hooks, 1, add some extra metal and 2, Only use cap screws as they are a higher grade...

Oops, thread-jack!

This one was broken from the factory, it had square lights

Looks more like really ambitious recovery without engaging the only brain cell of the driver in the recovering vehicle.

Nice pictures guys! I'm quite surprised i couldn't bulldoze my way though a bit further... maybe i need more speed... Will try again next time.

Anyway, my truck is going to be off the road for a while while i fix the damage (IE, do a quater chop, find a way of putting some new rear lights on, fix the dash which still doesnt work, clean the engine bay, fix the left front guard that has totaly warped (didnt notice this untill i got home)

I'm bloody please with how the truck went though, winch worked well now.

SAND! SAND! Thats right......... torque converter and box full of.... Not slushy mud from my attempted drowning...... but F^%$&*G SAND!!!!!!!!!!

Seems the dope smoking bloke i bought it off might have dropped it in the salty stuff somewhere when wind surfing, quick oil change and off it goes!!

Thing thats got me buggered is that it was driving fine.... bit sticky trying to get to top gear at times, but i figured that was just where the ratio change was different due to the bigger tyres. Then again, things went pear shaped in Low box...... hadnt used it before........ hmmmmmm

SAND, SAND...... Two thousand three hundred dollars worth of fuking SAND..................

MOTHERFu................................................................... arrrrrgh
