Hi
Half way through installing new shocks on the rangie , its a 91 that in ment to have lifted springs . Was trying to figure out how much tc . Only done the rear so far but will add the front when I get to it . With the thing on the groungd the length of the rear spring is 335 mm ( or 13 1/4 inch ) from the top off the upper spring plate to the lower of the lower spring plate .
The old shocks , unknown type , are roughly the same length as the old man emu nitro shocks going in but are ment to be long travel ones . I thought it had standard shock when I got it , o-well .
Will add the front length in a few hours . Anyone know the standard legth when installed for an empty rangie , with no mods ( ie b/bars etc ).
Cheers
Chris
Ok the front is 280 mm or 11 inch from top of shock strut lip to lower of spring base . How does that compare to others ?

spring length on Rangie
Spring specs can be found here http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/springinfo.html
John also has measurements he used for his calculations, which may be of some use, even though it is for a disco.

Your loaded spring lengths will vary wildly based on how old/stuffed they are and how much weight you have in your rangie... So a comparison with someone elses loaded springs may not be of assistance. Mostly springs are measured new and unloaded. The lift when installed will vary for everyone...
Are there any colours/stripes painted on the springs? That would help identify them.
As for long travel shocks - just remember to some companys an inch or two over standard constitutes 'Long Travel'. So if they are a little longer then they may very well be their version of long travel.
With OME for example to get true loooong travel you would use a combination of Toyota Landcruiser and Nissan Patrol spec'd shocks.

Hi
Yep figured they would vary with vehcle weight etc and was just after a rough idea for a standard rangie . Can't be naffed taking the springs out just to measure them and since I did not bend a shock in the weekend I will assume they are not too long . Front was a good inch may be more longer than the ols ones etc .
I have looked for colour markings before but never found them . Alas after 45 mins with the water blaster on sunday I noticed the rears ( think its the rears anyway , was not thinking about it at the time ) were marked green . Now I just have to go and look it up .
Cheers

If they are black with a green stripe they could be Landrover springs... My data says they are therefore - 150lbs/16.12 inches... Officially LR standard rears and 150lbs is soft as....
They might be Rangie spares but the only greens are HD fronts at 160lbs... Which aint that heavy man.....

Hi
Well been out and had a good look at the still muddy rangie . A rear sping has an orange mark and its the front that has a green mark .
I was told the were rangie spares springs so that seems to make sence .
Still leaving piles of clan in the various carparks I leave it in . Must get it all cleaned up this week .
Cheers for all the info
