if i sell my bike we will be there with bells on.... otherwise im just a weeeeee bit on the broke side :oops:

and pete's a jobless bum so hes in the same boat as me, we would absolutely love to come and support the cause and drive the cool tracks that scotty and co have put a lot of hard yards into and have a beer with all the blokes with mud on the brain, but lack of funds is a big killer :roll:

anybody want to buy a hell of an MX bike ?........

last year the comments were that the tracks weren't hard enough.

seriously now.... sounds like a fun trip, but a bit much for the Cherokee or the Wrangler... a) the Cherokee will break, and b) I'm never allowed to go near the Wrangler again, and Kat wont drive it in that terrain. Just being there and hanging out/helping out would be a blast too though I'm sure.

good observation. the only broken bit on the cruiser was a small tear in the soft top. the driveshaft removed itself from the homebuilt when the top of the rear A Arm broke.

we were only using the cruiser bonnet for a photographic table.

yes well i in the process of replacing my spring perches that has set me back a few hundred dollars must admit though i think it is to rough for me anyway think i will plan on getting my winch sorted maybe the turbo engine swap as well an we shall see about next time

possibly lpg fumigation as well for even more ommph :lol:

the first pic I rember well and pleased to see everyone winching as well.
And the home built driving the same hill as I just managed to get up. If people wanted to have a challenge than this is definally the trip to do. Its not the point and shoot or lets go balls out type of track ..its abit of everything with a lot of technial sections.( thats thinking bits for those that own Nissans)
I'm sure that everything will go well, as you and your team of helpers seem to have covered all possiblities and it looks like its turning out to be one of thse 'Must do trips, you should have been there'

which hill do you think that is. coz I can't remember, but it looks like the hill that we all winched up with 3 winch extensions(100m).

which hill
It looks very much like the short bit sharp hill just off a well formed gravel acess road. it rises very quickly with a steeper section just about at the crest the track then turns to the right onto a old formed logging track.
The 100 metre winch I remeber well, taking straps , wire ropes extensions etc etc up down up and down smashing a rear window backing into a Punga, getting xed up, slipping clutch ..... great time

na I didnt take a pic of Kevin going up there, he was up before I knew it. no one else got up. where the hell are you supposed to winch from if you can't get up there??? may have to talk to scott about putting a truk up there to tow??? could be an easy job for me???

check with Scott, but I think we were not far off being half way, but Scott had an issue with no left steering and then Kevin demolished his rear end, so we were in there till after dark. I don't even know where the second start point is yet????

Scott and I bailed after the 100 meter winch hill as time was getting on and my Surf was running on 5 cylinders and Scotts winch needed repairs and had almost run out of 2 stroke ( That will have everyone scratching their heads ) :lol:

I seem to rember that it took about 5 1/2 hours to get that far

damn it, piss piss piss. I just went outside to load up the tow wagon and the farkin batteries were flat. No worries I thought, I'll just jump it and it'll be all good. No amount of jumping was gonna get the piece of shit to start.
now I have to take half a day off work and piss around buying 2 new batteries to install and get it back on the road. Yes thats right, its a 24 volt cruiser. That hits the pocket just that little bit harder.

I think I'll take out my anger on Orange when I get reunited with it on the weekend. Bring it on.

just to get you all excited, here are some pics. You can find the rest on page 41 of user pics.

from what I can tell everyone had an awesome weekend. after last year some people wanted it harder and I think we delivered this year. all the participants looked happy, even after they had broken or only driven for 1 hour before sitting in a hole for 3 hours with a broken truck. then there were the guys in the Terrano who we thought would smash thier truck to pieces, but they showed they knew how to drive it and show the right attitude to boot.
I think those that were lucky enough to go into the track known to have the 100m hill on it, will have nightmares about the 500m+ winching they ended up doing(rain can be a bitch).

unfortunately for those of you who are on ORE and attended, we only have pics of the group from Counties, which we were looking after. You'll just have to go next year to get your picture taken.

congrats to Scott and all of his helpers for an awesome weekend with great food and company. even the continuous rain couldn't put a damper on such an awesome event.

I even spotted this guy having fun, and I meant to take a pic of his truk, coz he seems to have a blatant disregard for the passengers side of his truck. I noticed a couple more dents and the left rear tail lights were missing. at least he had fun.

yep ya got me skid. I wasn't game to take my wifes camera out in the rain - had my hands full anyway.

Scott and the rest of our hosts looked after us well - cheers. There was some hard out winching there allright - some wicked uphills and a really interesting do o o o o wn hill!

On Saturday out of the three Hilux's that were with us we one inverted the pass. door and window and broke a winch cable. Another broke a windscreen. All replacement parts were back at camp by 6pm supplied by by one of the local lads all at a "special" price - thats service!

yeah as you can see by the foggy photo, my camera didn't like the rain either. Was that dooooownhill in amongst some cutover scrub just after you guys turned around and winched back out of the sunday track???
If it was then I can tell you that you were supposed to go right at the bottom of the hill and then left. the track that went straight ahead was made by me(I had no choice), it was very slippery down there.

Na we still wanted to do another stage. Scott said the the pucker hill was there so we were into it. we seemed to come out at the right spot (low and sandy intersection?) then headed out.

how many others were keen and took on the big winch hill after the rain started? After we saw a couple of Patrol PTO winches double purchased up there we decided it was going to be a bit of a mission for us!!
