Want ideas from fello Terrano owners re what you have done as far as putting in LSD or Locca's to your rig.
Mine is a 95 auto and am wanting to do something as it has not got LSD's and gets sideways sooo easily in mud.
Do I go for LSD front and rear, or LSD front and Loca rear?
Will also look at a body lift and 33's sometime too.

Seriously Pete get a lokka up front and a slippery in the rear. Nissan slippery's rock and are shit loads better then a toyota one, they actually "almost "lock. Get a body lift and run 32's. I found 33's broke CV's. Even with 32's your diff will be more off the ground then my safari on 33's.

Would this depend on how hard it is driven? And being an auto would it be easier on the drivetrain?

Any particular lokka, ARB etc?
If Nissan LSD's are as good as you say, why shouldnt I have them in the front as well? Just wondering why you suggest the Lokka in the front, thats all.
And as for the nissan LSD, just one from a wrecker etc? Think all the Terrano's with chrome bumpers and mirrors etc were LSD's from memory, am I right? If so, were they LDS both ends or just the rear?

They don't make a lsd for the front. One out of the rear of a nissan zx will fit it. The front diff is very different to the rear diff. Don't go ARB, in my opinion they have too many parts that can go wrong. Go see Rick and get the Lokka brand from Oz, $699 off the shelf, fit it yourself. As for driving it hard, I drove it just as hard, if not harded on 31's and never broke a CV. As soon as I put the 33's on I started breaking CV's.

there isnt as much hard launching or shock loading in an auto (ie, reving it up and dumping the clutch to get up to speed quicker) but any time you shock load the front wheels you will be hurting the cvs. like, if you get the front wheels off the ground and keep your foot on the gas, somthing is bound to give, but if you lift off the gas when you feel the front lift there will be less chance of breaking somthing (but you still could), and in that situation theres as much chance of breaking somthing as in a manual.
i put alot on the driver aswell. one of the guys on here had a pajero same as mine on 33s, he was always breaking cvs. every secont time he took it out almost i think, but ive only destroyed one. and i gave it a bit of stick on the last trip when i had 35s on it.
i have read that the guys in the us tend to put LSDs in the rear and locker front. not exactly sure of the reason but seems to be the done thing so there must be one.
as for auto lockers vs air/mech lockers. i like selectable lockers (arb etc) just because i like the idea of being able to turn it off, for turning and times wheen im sliping around a bit much etc. but i have never had either a front locker or an auto locker so im not exactly an expert. more a preferance thing for me.
